I purchased this after getting a bad back and unable to move due to muscle spasm, I'd already purchased an electric blanket but this wasn't giving me relief when I was sleeping, with the beurer it gave me consistent heat for 90 minutes and allowed me to move whilst sleeping giving me the help I needed, far better than the flat blanket. I like this so much I've purchased another one for my mum who has pain in her back and neck for Christmas, thoroughly recommended.

Bought this for my Mum, who has arthritis in her spine. She normally uses microwavable heat pads, but after being ill in December she was too weak to keep getting up to reheat the pads. This product has been perfect for her and has really helped keep the pain at bay. She often uses it laid full length down the back of her armchair so that she can lean back on it and have it warming her whole spine at once. There are 3 heat settings but the hottest one gets used the most.

I get rather painful back spasms. I know baths as hot as you can stand them will stop the spasm and the pain, but one can't always run a bath, and more than one a day gives me skin problems (seriously) so this remedy is of limited use.

Today I went out shopping, with my back already painful. By the time I returned home I was in agony and had been for some time. I put the heat pad on (on heat setting 3) and within 2-3 minutes the pain was reducing. Within 5-10 it was gone. It was heaven!

However it has similiar problems to the bathing solution.., once the heat pad is no longer on, the spasm will return, sometimes quite quickly. The heat pad is not quite hot enough as well, even on setting three. I have to sit with my back pressed against a chair to make sure all the heat is conducted to my back. But even so, its not quite hot enough. Plus of course, when I most need it (moving around the house doing housework etc, anything involving mobility) you can't use the pad because it needs to be plugged in. The world has to come to a stop while you use the pad because it needs to be plugged in.

That is obviously how its designed. Nothing you can do. It does what it says on the tin. But because of the design, it won't remove all the limitations back problems cause (painful mobility).

However, none of the above remove the fact that the pad stopped the extreme pain I was in when I came home today. That makes it well worth buying.

To update: I have found that an extra extending strap is included so the pad can be used for people of all shapes and sizes.

I am a bit disappointed though to find the pad doesn't stay at the same temperature through the 90 minute period. It would be more effective if it stayed at the same temperature rather than spending half of the time at a cooler temp.

I have neck issues and have a microwavable bean thing that gets very hot and stays hot for 5 mins then warm for another 5 mins then needs re-heating.

I thought this item would get hot or at the very least very warm, it does neither, it give the illusion of warmth as the material its made from will make your neck/back ect. feel warm just like a scarf would.

I has 3 temperatures ranging from un noticeable to lukewarm.

It has a kind of element system on the inside and the outer edges did not warm up at all.

This is no use at all, its like wanting a HOT bath to relieve your aches & pains and ending up in a lukewarm paddling pool.

Just buy the bean bag with velcro style and that gets HOT and does the job or even the jell filled ones.

Bought this heat pad as I have arthritis and up to now have just used microwave heat pads. Once ordered it arrived very quickly and in good condition. It fastens around your waist with elastic straps with Velcro on so you can get a good fit. I also use mine on my shoulders and wrap it round my knees. You can adjust the heat settings, three in all and it heats up fast. I am really pleased with this heat pad and would definitely recommend it.

I bought this when I realised my chronic back pain improved with a hot bath so before buying make sure your back improves with heat, if you can. The kind of pain I have is low grade but didn't go for months. I used this primarily early in the morning for about 15-20 mins before I get up and it certainly makes getting dressed easier. But it was also good if I had strained my back during the day. It is comfortable and adjustable (there is an extension strap up to at least a 40 inch waist if you are not as slim as you once were).
Minor niggles:
It doesn't get massively hot (three settings and I always use 3 which is warm bath but not super hot bath temp) and alot of heat seems to escape out of the back (not the side next to you skin) which I think the manufacturer could address.
The power chord isn't that long so you will need a socket near you or an extension cable.
Also - and most seriously - when switching up through level 1-3 rapidly once, my lights fused. I now switch through carefully with no further problems.

I think anything that alleviates back pain is worth it, and with low muscular stiffness it does provide some relief. The niggles reduce this to a 3 which might be a bit harsh: I could be persuaded to a 4.

I would also say that I have followed the work of Stuart McGill (Google his books - well woth it) and got my pain under control now but I still use this occassionally.

Having suffered for many years with chronic lower back pain (due to 3 slipped discs), I have always used heat as a complementary aid to medication.

When my most recent heat pad gave up the ghost, I was looking for a replacement, when I came upon this product. I was unsure about it, but the idea of having the heat applied directly to the affected area, with a belt to keep it in place appealed to me. How right I was to go for this heat pad. Although it doesn't get quite as warm as my old pad, it makes up for this by being very closely applied to the painful area.

I would strongly recommend this to anyone who suffers with lower back pain.

I was really looking forward to using this heat pad . I suffer from fibromyalgia and have chronic pains especially worse in my neck and back . I wanted something that heated up to a good temperature similar to wheat bags but something that would keep its heat for longer like the 90 minutes as advertised but it failed to heat up ! Not a happy customer .

This is advertised as a heat pad and I bought it because my physiotherapist advised heat for my injured shoulder. In fact it gives virtually no heat at all. It gets just perceptibly, ever-so-slightly lukewarm (despite absurd warnings on the instructions for heat sensitive people). A complete and utter waste of money.

this is such a good product that my mother is always borrowing mine and so i bought this one on amazon for her for Christmas and she is delighted. plenty of heat settings and it cuts out after 90 mins in case you fall asleep using it. mine is still going strong after 18+ months. no negative points either
