To most, Mike Batt is known as: (1) creator of the best music to come from Wimbledon Common; (2) the writer of "Bright Eyes" and (3) the mentor of Katie Melua. Mike Batt has written some truly great music over the past thirty-odd years and some pretty naff stuff. Unfortunately this collection has more than its fair share of the latter. Winter's Tale is a dreadful dirge and Feel Like Buddy Holly so corny I gag whenever I hear it. Also most of the new recordings in this collection are a little on the bland side, so even the...

I thought I like Mike Batt until I bought this CD - which made me realise how many winsome, downright soppy songs he's penned. He peaked with "Remember you're a Womble" [sadly not included].
