In all honesty I haven't really listened to 'Story Of The Year' before, and buying this album was down to simply.......spontaneous buying, straight from the shelf to the counter! How great is that! Haha! I didn't have a clue what to expect AT ALL! But I'll tell you something, this album will not disappoint because from the opener 'Choose Your Fate' the breakneck pace rarely seizes to let out and 'Story Of The Year' definately have produced an arsenal of songs on 'The Black Swan'.
Each track is as good as the next, its difficult to pick a definate favourite, the standard of this album and the quality of the songs is really high! The single 'Wake Up' is an instant favourite and upon hearing it I fell in love with the lyrics, the soaring vocals and the funkeh guitar solo on the bridge! Fantastic! 'The Antidote' turns up the heat with crushing guitars, visceral chanting and the schitzophrenic guitar solo which is very impressive and has to be one of my favourites on this album! Other tracks such as 'The Black Swan', 'Message To The World', 'Apathy Is A Deathwish' and 'We're Not Gonna Make It' dont let up the breakneck pace and definately deliver with equally bedazzling vocals and musicianship! From the quality you can tell they are proud with this release and so they should be.....but thats not all!
'Cannonball', the most gutsiest track on the album became an instant and my most favourite track from the album. Heavy, sleazy guitar riffs with equally stunning vocals. A hard rock, balls out anthem! Love it! And when the breakneck pace does let out they excel furthur with the likes of 'Terrified' which shows how versatile the singers voice really is, beautifully written lyrics such as 'And I can save you with this heart I know, I will carry us home' and to me, is another favourite on the album.
Its rare to find an album which is so consistent and able to listen from start to finish without skipping tracks, and for me this is one of them! For saying this album was spontaneous buying, I'd definately recommend this album to anyone new to 'Story Of The Year' and I think for existing fans, they'll find this album a little treasure! =]
Top Tracks: 'Cannonball', 'Terrified', 'Wake Up'

13 Songs of pure Story of the year Genius, they just don't seem to be able to go wrong in my books, if your a fan from the beginning you wont be disappointed, they bring it all on this album, and make it heavier than the previous 2 albums which isn't a bad thing, Excellent, Keep up the good work guys.
