Progressing from problems to goals

I won't pretend that I have read every word in this book It is after all 552 pages long and it is more of a reference book

I was interested in it as it covers the four main areas of personal development that have come to the fore in recent years being life coaching, neuro linguistic programming cognitive behavioural therapy and hypnotherapy.

Life coaching is something I know about in that i have had a life coach for the last few years. It is a practical skill as the coach encourages you to say what your goals are and how you are going to achieve them.

It is a talking process but at the end of the guided talk you commit yourself to a course of cation that you have come up with.

This allows you to clarify your goals and how you are going to achieve them. You revisit the goals and refine or change them as you talk further to your coach.

It should work because you have generated the right solution for yourself. You also take responsibility for the results.

Hypnotherapy again have had some experience of as when you have a problem you can b hypnotised and have an idea inserted in your subconscious mind that can help. again I had a stress problem a few years ago which was helped by hypnotherapy.

NLP is all about how you view the world.

There is more in this book then any normal person would ever need to want to know about the subject of personal development.

It is something you have to practice rather than just read about that is why I have a life coach and I have been hypnotised in the past. It is like yoga or pilates you have to practice every week if you hare going to get any better at it.

The Dummies range of titles are all very good and is more than just an introduction to the subject it is a complete overview

For an book to be read for personal development it's a bit thickish..A good book though.. I printed out some of the stuff and have successfully used it. It works ! I wish there was an audio version available. :-)
