Where do I begin?

This CD id one of the best film themes CDs I've ever heard. The Liverpool Philharmonic are on top form with every track. There is not one theme I do not like. Carl Davis brings his own style, and boy, what style!

The album opens with Raiders of the Lost Ark and the Liverpool Philharmonic really go to town on this one. Next is John Barry's lovely Out of Africa. Spider-Man is an exciting theme played with great style. For me, one of the most outstanding tracks is Forrest Gump - is is really something - played to perfection and moving too.

I highly recommend this CD to anyone who loves film themes played by a really superb orchestra.

The LPO do a great job with these superb arrangements. Breathtaking and often lump in the throat moments pepper this album and will have you reaching for the popcorn. There are many compilations out there, but you will not be disappointed if you plump for this fantastically produced and superbly arranged set. For me, John Barry's Out of Africa is simply astonishing. Just the escapism we all need when reality bites. Put it on and indulge yourself in the magic of the cinema!

Product arrived promptly and actually ahead of the scheduled time. The tunes were just as described with a very good sound quality. I bought this in conjunction with Great Movie themes 2( the second disc) and for those that want good orchestral theme tunes these are the discs for you.

Fantastic lush arrangements and the St George's Hall acoustics make this a real listening experience. Quite apart from the nostalgia element--listening to these takes you right back to the thrill of seeing the film for the first time and the associated poignant memories of times gone by--the technical quality is excellent. The stand out tracks are the Theme from Jurassic Park in which John Williams' brillaint ability to engage the listener in the narrative of his music is at its best. The pathos of Williams' superb Love Theme from Superman will make you listen again and again to this haunting track. But for sheer exhuberance and energy, Klaus Badelt's Pirates of the Caribbean stands out. Ted Rickett's arrangement is set to be an absolute classic.

This is a great CD version of a live concert I was lucky enough to see in Liverpool 23/11/07 . Whilst some of the pieces are arrangements of the originals , in some cases they were better (Dances with Wolves an example). Great value for money too - I paid 6 quid on the night for this!
Buy and enjoy !

Purchased mainly for the Pirates of the Caribbean theme and it is worth buying just for this, a stunning piece which I never tire of listening to. Having said that the remainder of the CD is good too and well worth having in your collection
