1.0 out of 5 stars Very poor after sales service and poor quality tredmill
I have contacted at least six times and the call was not returned even once though it was promised twice !!
The engineer will charge you £96 for inspection!! He will then come again to fix and charge you another £96.
I have already received a computer (New) and that did not help either.
They charged me for two cables, which were not in the pack.
I told...

Very pleased with my treadmill. It's solid and took a few minutes to put together. It's very heavy so would need 2 people to move it about the house and/or room but I didn't have too much trouble dragging it a few inches on my own. The pulse monitor doesn't work - and I have read that this is the main fault of this particular model - but I was not bothered about the pulse monitor in the first place (never used it at the gym after the first few times). Excellent value for money. Has paid for itself as far as cancelling my gym membership isconcerned. Has a small range of programmes but enough for most requirements. Easy to use too. I run 10k 4-5 days a week and it copes well with that amount of use. It's not the best treadmill on the market but for the price it's definitely worth it. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not so flat, 14 Jan 2010

I have recently bought this elsewhere - but the item is the same so the review shall be too.

Size wise (which you can probably see for yourself) is very compact. My bedroom is only 2m x 2.5m but I've managed to fit it in. Being not so long...if you fall behind with a stride - it won't be long before you run out of surface. Yes it is heavy, but I've been told that some weigh over 100kg (remember the size of those monsters at the gym?), and this one is 55kg (boxed weight) which is fine for even a small household. I asked the delivery men to take it upstairs and leave it on the landing outside my room. Now I'm 5'4 (yes and a girl) and I managed to unpack the thing on my own and drag it into my room within half an hour. The assembly requires the aid of a 2nd person - but this really is only to hold the display as you slot it into place, otherwise it's incredibly easy to put together.

Yes the cup holders do look cheap. There are groove-thingys which show that they've slotted into place, but they don't seem to stay there. But they only pop out if you happen to knock into them from below - so they'll do.

The incline and foldaway are all manual. With the level of usage I plan - there's not much point in folding it away and doing heavy lifting again! I went to a couple of stores looking at running shoes and they had their treadmills to test my stride - it was only after this that I noticed their's was completely flat. The York t501 is at a slight incline. To the eye (and if you sit on it!) it's not flat, but standing on it - you don't really notice much difference. Thinking the item may have arrived with it set to an incline - I felt around underneath it and found that the motor compartment thing was almost touching the floor - ergo it can't get any flatter.

The pulse sensors...hmmm...what can I say? Sometimes I think it's working - because it is increasing as I speed up. But once it read that I was at 150bpm when walking at 5kph! (no I'm not that unfit!) And then when jogging at 7kph, it never went above 130-140bpm.

It came with some lubricant - maybe enough for one usage...am not sure...haven't tried it yet...but it's a very small amount,(I didn't know beforehand that this was necessary-so I'm passing it on!) and there are instructions inside as to how often you need to do it - as it depends on your usage. Less than 3hrs/wk = every 8 months, 3-5hrs/wk = every 4 months, over 5hrs/wk = every 2 months. More fluid can be purchased from York.

The rest of the machine functions are self explanatory.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: York T501 Motorised/Incline Treadmill (Sports)
Bought this treadmill to assist me in my effort for the London Marathon in April. It looks really complicated when you open the instruction manual to put it together but actually two of us managed it in an hour. I am technically inept and panic at flat pack putting together!
I have just done 4 miles on the treadmill, which for an old timer who is incredibly unfit, not bad going, that is power walking not running I might add! I looked at quite a few treadmills before opting for this one and glad I did as am very pleased so far. Everything seems to be in good working order. I like the fact that I can pause my session and return back to it without losing everything I have done....It is great having it in the house as outside is still snow and ice everywhere... also can just pop onto it as and when, which being a full time at home carer, is very helpful indeed... so a very good purchase all in all. It's a sturdy piece of equipment and does not take up too much room so for the price a good buy.
One hint - use the oil lubrication enclosed as instructed, it helps with any initial "noises" - it goes beneath the roller on the underside of the treadmill.

4.0 out of 5 stars York T501 Treadmill, 13 Feb 2009
This review is from: York T501 Motorised/Incline Treadmill (Sports)
I bought this treadmill just over a week ago. I looked at lots of other treadmills before buying but in my opinion, for my price-range, it was the sturdiest-looking one with the best features. York had the best reviews on the web too, whereas a lot of other well-known treadmill brands did not.

The treadmill arrived 5 days after I placed the order, so I was very happy with that. It didn't come assembled, and you need two people to put it together. It was very easy to do though and didn't take long. I was running on it an hour after I received it. It did turn out to be a very heavy and sturdy treadmill. It comes with oil to lubricate it as well, which is handy as you need to do this regularly.

I have used this treadmill about 6 times since I bought it and not had any problems whatsoever. As you can see from the photos, it has two cup holders (useful for putting your mp3 player in too!), digital displays, different programmes to follow (or a manual setting where you can just press 'go') and a pulse monitor. The pulse monitors are on the handle bars, you just hold them to see your pulse. It is very easy to operate.

I can't really say anything bad about this treadmill, though I have only had it for just over a week! For the price I think it's an excellent choice for someone who will use it moderately (like me - prob 3-4 times a week, half hour-45mins a time). I think I will keep up the jogging more now I have a treadmill, as I hate running in bad weather!

Easy to assemble.Delivery men took it upstairs to the room of my choice.Very pleased with this treadmill although it can be a bit awkard to lift into storage position for one person as it does not have the hydraulics like the dearer models.Very good value.

This arrived very quickly and was well packed. For someone like me who just wants to exercise three or four times a week it is great. Although it would also be good for everyday use. I have it in a bedroom on the first floor and it does vibrate a little. If a heavy person was using it they should probably think about positioning it on the ground floor. Only down thing so far is that the water bottle does not stay in the cup holder but jumps out when machine is running fast!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Treadmill walking machine, 7 Oct 2010
This review is from: York T501 Motorised/Incline Treadmill (Sports)
This treadmill has proved to be a great asset in the house for keeping up with regular excercise without being exposed to the outside elements. This has been particularly beneficial as the nights draw in and there is a greater reluctance to want to go out. I am also impressed by the walking programmes that are offered within the machine, which is a usful way of letting you "warm up" before an agressive period of walking, followed by a "warn down" sequence. I also like the array of digital info' provided, which encapsulates how far I have gone, what speed I have travelled, my heart rate and, most importantly, an estimate of how many calories I have burnt off. PS - You need to keep the running "board" lubricated; I found York very helpful in obtaining replacement supplies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value for money, 11 Oct 2011
This review is from: York T501 Motorised/Incline Treadmill (Sports)
A bit bigger than anticipated but very solid. I have it in my dinning room in the corner. Great value product for the money I paid, which was half price offer. The whole family have had a go on it and we are all sizes.Very easy controls great for home use but you will need about 6ft x 4ft space to fit it in to allow room around it. Folds up nicely when not in use. Glad I bought it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent- just as decribed, 17 Dec 2010
This review is from: York T501 Motorised/Incline Treadmill (Sports)
After looking for a treadmill for many weeks, I finally decided to buy the York T501 treadmill. It is just as others have reviewed- an excellent buy on the whole. These are the main reasons for buying:
1) Very easy to put together- only took one hour to put together and tools were provided too.
2) Robust- a very good make and will last for a long time.
3) Accessories- timer and pulse are very good, distance is accurate (KM's).

Overall a great treadmill- do buy!
