The WWE's take on the great american bash as yet to really rival the WCW or NWA branded versions and and in 2007 they had another whack at it and fouled the ball again.
The event opened with a title match, always encouraging, the united states championship to be precise, the champ MVP went up against matt hardy in a sluggish, sloppy encounter that let everyone down,a good finisher aside this was very poor.
The cruiserweight championship was up next in open invitation form and the champ chavo had alot of work cut out as this match took shape with plenty of high risk moves and speed coming from those involved, the ending was beyound revolting, such a slap in the face for the division and for us the fans,i was nearly sick,im nearly sick now thinking of it.
A singopore cane on a pole match was up next as carlito fought the sandman who wasnt his normal self on the way into the ring which was annoying, the match itself was horrible and a very cheap ending ,the cane was hardly used and this annoyed so many.
The womans title was up next, candice vs melina, this was dull as dishwater,so poor, pity me please.
The WWE intercomtiental championship was up next, the champ umaga went up against jeff hardy, this was, much as it pains me to say it,the first great match of the night, plenty of things happening, end to end in terms of dominance and a very good in ring chemistry shared ,very pleasing indeed.
The ECW championship was up next as the champ john morrison fought CM punk, this was an excellent match and although these two fought so much in that year i felt they both went for it with conviction and with heart and this was a real crowd on their feets kind of match, belting.
A texas bullrope match was next and was contested between dusty rhodes and randy orton who was on a great roll in 2007,this match wasnt pretty really and didnt last long but a very convincing ending meant that i walked away thinking this was a worthwhile match.
The world heavyweight title was up for grabs next in a triple threat match that didnt have the greatest hype as if memory serves me rightly it was meant to be edge versus khali but edge got injured and had to give the belt up so khali won it and defended it here in a decent match that didnt blow my eyes out of their sockets in any way really, but there was some good hits and moves here and it didnt drag on thankfully.
The main event was next, the WWE championship was contested with lots of hype and interest between the champ john cena and bobby lashley, this match was class through and through, lashley has since left the WWE and didnt leave the greatest impression but he bang on form here as was cena and they went for it guts and all, this was a very worthy main event and 2.5 stars is the events reward.

2.0 out of 5 stars the great american bore, 10 Nov. 2007

MATCH 1:
U.S Championship match. M.V.P V.S Matt Hardy.
A pretty boring match I expected a decent match but was let down. M.V.P spent the better part of the first ten minutes outside the ring until about the 9 count there aren't many moves in this match and the wrong man won.
5/10

Match 2: Cruiserweight Championship Match. Chavo Guerrero(c) vs Shannon Moore vs Jimmy Yang Wang vs Jamie Noble vs Funaki.
An o.k match with a surprise ending.
7/10

Match 3: Singapore Cane On A Pole Match.Sandman vs Carlito.
Terrible match about 5 minutes and the cane wasn't even used and once sandman got the cane it was obvious what the ending was.
4/10

Match 4. Womens Championship Match.Candice (c) vs Melina.
A decent womens match it was longer than most as well which was good.
6/10

Match 5 .I.C. Championship Match. Umaga(c) vs Jeff Hardy.
Not a great match Umaga mainly just stood there while jeff ran past him cool part where jeff managed to pick umaga up but that was about the only good part.
6/10

Match 6. ECW Championship Match. John Morrison(c) vs CM Punk
Pretty bad match I never much cared for ECW since it came back and it hasnt been extreme rules which havent helped it either. #the other bad thing is that it lost its only decent people e.g Kurt Angle, RVD, Sabu etc. The match was not great entertainment and slow paced.
6/10

Match 7. Texas Bull Rope Match. Randy Orton vs Dusty Rhodes.
Short match a few funny spots but not enough to save it. Terrible ending too.
6/10

Match 8. World Heavyweight Championship Match. The Great Khali (c) vs Batista vs Kane.
Match of the night course that is'nt saying much i feel Khali becoming champ was the worst thing that ever happened to smackdown. The match had a few decent spots though with Batista and Kane throwing Khali through a table a chokeslam and spinebuster on Khali were a few good shows of strenghth but didnt stop him.
8/10

WWE Championship Match. John Cena (c) vs lasheley
Terrible main event slow match no good spots and a an awful ending capped of an all round awful ppv.
5/10

I spent some of my birthday money on this dvd i urge you not to make the same mistake.

Great American Bash 2007 Review

WWE United States Championship Match- MVP vs Matt Hardy

*** As we know funny storyline at moment and this match was the start of it and what a start! A Very Good Match, Sloppy at times but good and a nice way to kick off the PPV

WWE Crusierweight Open- Chavo Guerrero vs Shannon Moore vs Jamie Noble vs Funaki vs Jimmy Wang Yang

** OK Match, it had its moments, funny ending i thought

Singapore on a cane Match- Carito vs The Sandman

* Not that good at all, fairly average the cane wasn't even used in the match which made this match a little more disapointing

WWE Women's Championship Match- Candice Michelle vs Melina

** I must admit, candice has improved a lot since debuting a couple of years ago not a bad matcb at all, i've seen better but it wasn't bad

ECW World Championship Match- John Morrison vs CM Punk

** Slightly obove average match but not by much, wasn't given enough time in my opinion but in the time they had they used it quite well

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match Umaga vs Jeff Hardy

*** Same as his brothers match, Very good and fairly fast paced which is nice to see

Texas Bullrope Match- Dusty Rhodes vs Randy Orton

* It was quite short, no RKO sadly good cowball shot to the head by orton to dusty

World Heavyweight Championship Match- Batista vs The Great Khali vs Kane

** A lot better than i expected a pretty good match, for the men involved mainly Khali of cause it was not very long for a main event match only about 8 mins

WWE Championship Match- John Cena vs Bobby Lashley

*** Very Good WWE Title Main Event, Keept it exciting never particuly boring and the crowd were very into it, they gave it a big match feel by interviewing wwe legends and who they think will win it which made it seem that this match was special.

Overall i'd say The Great American Bash was a Very Good PPV Better than i thought it would be and better than all the other bashes by a mile!

Cena/Lashley and Both the Hardys matches where very good, none of the matches were particuly bad apart from sandman/carlito which i though was a bit disapointing i'd give the Bash a 7/10

Thanks

4.0 out of 5 stars For the first time, we TRULY had a great bash!, 20 Nov. 2009
By

(VINE VOICE)    (TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
This review is from: WWE - THE GREAT AMERICAN BASH [DVD] (DVD)
In the past, The Great American Bash was an event that didn't really excel. There were a few quality moments in previous Bashes, but nothing really outstanding. It's pretty much been a `meh' pay-per-view.

However, that all changed in 2007. This particular incarnation of The Great American Bash is packed with a much more consistent quality throughout, some excellent hype and investment, future stars really starting to breakout and come into their own, the seeds being sewn for much bigger things and the stars (then) on top still delivering. Although not perfect, this event is still a solid show that's well worth the money.

U.S. Championship Match
MVP (Champion) vs. Matt Hardy
MVP absolutely flew with the U.S. title, and Matt was finally starting to get his big break as a singles-wrestler. It's a quality opener with great straight-up wrestling. Matt shows just how fab a technician he is and MVP proves his excellence also. A few holes in the storytelling and a botched finish brings the mark down, but this is still terrific stuff. The fact that this is only the first chapter of a fantastic storyline makes this all the more essential watching. (8/10)

Cruiserweight Championship Open
Chavo Guerrero (Champion) vs. Jimmy Wang Yang vs. Funaki vs. Shannon Moore vs. Jamie Noble
What happened here was a travesty. It killed the Cruiserweight division and its title. And you have to wonder why the hell Vince did it! There's typical Cruiserweight excellence aplenty here, complete with fast pace and thrills...all of which are spoilt by the stupid ending that reeks of TNA booking! I mean, WHY HORNSWOGGLE?! Why not instead the terrific Jimmy Wang Yang who could have led the division to new heights of glory?! Anyway, still a fun bout, I suppose. (7/10)

Singapore Cane on a Pole Match
Sandman vs. Carlito.
This was another stupid idea. What was the point of having THIS instead of a straight-up Singapore Cane Match? The intensity could have been sweet right from the get-go and suited the Sandman much better, thus being more effective. As it is, this is just a ponderous, lifeless snore-fest. And when they finally do get the cane, it doesn't even come into play! WHY?! This doesn't make Carlito look any good, either! (3/10)

Women's Championship Match
Candice Michelle (Champion) vs. Melina
Now THIS was getting back on the right track. Candice had really improved, evolving into an outstanding wrestler. Here she justifies that putting the women's title on her was a great idea. Feuding with Melina produced some nice stuff and this was the high-point. A fast-paced, solid women's match-up with both Divas performing nice moves. A delightful contest. (6/10)

Intercontinental Championship Match
Umaga (Champion) vs. Jeff Hardy
Finally Umaga was given a chance to show the world what he could do with an Intercontinental title. Jeff's star was just continuing to shine brighter and brighter. As you'd expect, this is a David-and-Goliath story, but one that's presented and executed superbly. The first half is bogged down by too slow a pace but the latter half REALLY makes up for it with electrifying offence and Jeff making you believe he can pull off the biggest upset of 2007. Excellent rollercoaster ride. (8/10)

ECW Championship Match
John Morrison (Champion) vs. CM Punk
When former MNM member Johnny Nitro upgraded himself into the superior John Morrison, everyone started to take him more seriously. This breathed new life into the feud with Punk and made both of them bound for greatness. However, here they were still trying to find `it' in terms of chemistry and winning the fans over. A poor finish hurts things, too, but it's still a solid bout, and classic days still lay ahead. (7/10)

Texas Bull Rope Match
Dusty Rhodes vs. Randy Orton
Orton was white hot at this stage in his career and was steam-rolling towards his WWE Championship era. The 2007 chapter of the Legend Killer's run reminds you why, as the build-up to the confrontation with the American Dream was pure gold. The bout itself gets off to a spirited start with the legend doing well and Orton carrying him nicely. Sadly though, the intensity is lost before it can even start and the match ultimately falters. This serves more for storyline purposes than anything else, but it's still gripping drama, particularly the aftermath. (6/10)

Triple Threat World Heavyweight Championship Match
The Great Khali (Champion) vs. Batista vs. Kane
Khali as WORLD CHAMPION? Well, from a business point of view...it DID make sense. Looking back at it all, his reign wasn't actually that bad, thanks to creative direction. Still, Khali is a terrible worker and bogs the quality down, but Batista and Kane work wonders and actually make the overall result rather decent. The outcome ISN'T what I wanted to see, but this is still surprisingly good. (7/10)

WWE Championship Match
John Cena (Champion) vs. Bobby Lashley
Tremendous build-up resulted in keen anticipation and an excellent match. The serious analysis of both competitors' strengths, weaknesses and accomplishments, and the opinions of various wrestling legends give this a real good feel to it all. This still stands as the greatest match in Lashley's life and he delivers a main-event calibre performance. Cena once again showed that he was the wrestler of 2007 with yet another classic battle under his belt. An astonishingly good wrestling bout that will have viewers on their feet. Match of the night. (9/10)

There are some nice extras on hand here, like Edge's Mardi Gras Celebration segment from SmackDown! (featuring Kane), and the Raw Contract Signing between Cena and Lashley, revealing more as to what happened on the road to the Bash. While there are quite a few glaring flaws, The Great American Bash 2007 is an absolutely solid pay-per-view overall. Definitely much more pros than cons to be found here. So worth the money indeed.

4.0 out of 5 stars John Cena and Bobby Lashley pull the roof off with an awesome main event for the WWE Championship, 5 Nov. 2010

This review is from: WWE - THE GREAT AMERICAN BASH [DVD] (DVD)
John Cena and Bobby Lashley pull the roof off with an awesome main event for the WWE Championship, at the Great American Bash.

WWE's 2007 edition of the Great American Bash was a worthy and decent enough PPV, with the main event stealing the show, with two of WWE's greatest performers e.g. John Cena and ex WWE superstar Bobby Lashley. These two put on one heck of a match, to prove to the WWE universe, that they are top talents of the WWE. Both competitors were testing each others strength, with close pinfalls and John Cena delivering the FU to Bobby Lashley off the top turn buckle was amazing.

I did enjoy the moment where John Cena and Bobby Lashley took the opportunity to shake each others hand, where they both deserved a round of applause. ***** main event

Other Matches I Liked
1. Jeff Hardy vs Umaga for the Intercontinental Championship ***
2. Great Khali vs Kane vs Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship ***

Overall I think WWE Great American Bash 2007 is a great event and worthy of being in any WWE DVD collection.

1. MATT HARDY VS MVP (c) WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPTIONSHIP

this is was a great openener, these two always work well together we saw some great wrestling and a brutal yakuza kick my mvp. 7/10

2. WWE CRUISERWEIGHT OPEN

this match wasnt so good, it was far too short and considering the talent involved such as jamie noble and jimmy wang yang the match didnt deliver and few nice spots but far too short. 5/10

3. CARLITO VS SANDMAN SINGAPORE CANE MATCH

only watch this match if u want to see carlito's textbook dropkicks. this match was poor was expecting quite a decent brawl but instad got let down. 2/10

4. WOMENS MATCH

not even gonna bother...

5. UMAGA (c) VS JEFF HARDY INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP

match of knight so far, very faced past and some very brutal moves by umaga. jeff hardy takes a beating most of the match but is still able to pull of his signature moves. a fun entertaining match 7.5/10

6. JOHN MORRISON (C) VS CM PUNK ECW WORLD TITLE

probally there worst match of there feud. cm punk didnt perform that well as he botched several moves such as a weak moonsault. however still and enjoyable match to watch as john morrison proves that he should be ecw champ. great action but something was just not right here 6.5/10

7. RANDY ORTON VS DUSTY ROADS TEXAS BULLROPE MATCH

dustys promos before the match is exellent however the match itself isnt that great. good to see dusty back in the ring orton got some great heat from the live croud. short and sweet match 5/10

8 GREAK KALI (c) VS KANE VS BATISTA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

slow, sloppy boring match. i am getting so tired of these guys great kali is awful, batista is only good when he faces someone who can actually wrestle and kane has just gone downhill ever since he lost his mask. this is a spot were kali goes throght the announce table but to be honest it looks very poor. 3/10

9 JOHN CENA (c) VS BOOBY LASHLY WWE CHAMPTIONSHIP

this match was great, the two blended very well and together put on a great match. bobby lashley looked impressive in this match it was obvious he carried cena through it. some exellent matt wrestling and a great finish. 8.5/10

ultimatly this is a fairly average ppv it was fun watching live but i wouldnt recommend purchasing it unless its part of a collection.
