Avoid this pan: the paint does come off!
on 16 August 2015
We carefully read the reviews of this pan and decided to buy it, keeping in mind the adverse points raised but balancing that against the low price and many favourable reviews. At first, we were happy with it: it is attractive, with a comfortable handle, and nicely balanced. We seasoned it as instructed and used it twice - quite successfully - for cooking eggs; we cleaned it carefully and lightly re-seasoned it after each use. But on the third occasion, again cooking an omelette, it all went wrong. Although we were using the same (medium) heat on the same ceramic electric hob, we detected an unpleasant burning smell and upon lifting the pan saw that the green paint had begun to stick on the hob. Sure enough, half a dozen little spots of paint from the bottom of the pan had come off. We took it off the heat and let it cool, after which we could examine the bottom and the see the numerous places where the paint had come off; it was so loose that it was possible then to flake off more paint just with the fingernail. Obviously we cannot use the pan any further.
It seems that some people have good experience with this pan; but as our experience shows, it is equally possible to have a disaster.
