This box set contains the discs in 4 generic DVD cartons. There are no extras on the discs in the way of 'a making of' etc, and no booklet with facts or other info about the show, remember this was made in the mid seventies. You do get 3 or 4 episodes per disc, on the disc menu you get the option to select an individual episode or play all the episodes. The print and sound are good although the sound is mono. Only £42 for over 70 hours of great tv, can't be bad!

JUST CHECK YOUR BOX SET - We received two season 3's instead of 3 and 4. It is not obvious because each season uses the cheap, generic DVD folders which do not differentiate.

I love James garner, I love his acting, his easy manner and his personality - (I v'e watched most of his films so now think that I know him personally...)

As teenager in the 70's I watched these the first time round and enjoyed them then. Yes the plots are a bit dodgy along with the clothing and language, but the series is consistent so there are no weak episodes/characters or bad acting.

Because they are easy to follow I watch them whilst exercising so every time there's a car chase, and there are many, I pedal faster. So have combined pleasure with being fitter and thinner...thank you Rockford....

When is series 6 out for region 2 ??

At the time when Dixon was shuffling into retirement and the Sweeney where beating the life out of some 'slag', The Rockford Files came in as an additional offering to the ever so popular crime genre. Opening with the classic: 'This is Jim Rockford, at the tone leave your name and message.., I'll get back to you', and then into the opening bars of the Post and Carpenter theme tune, (of which I have to admit I bought on a something called an LP - BBC Detective Themes REH 378). The programme began in earnest. So what did I like about it? Well when us Brits had the Ford Escort and Austin Allegro 'Panda' cars and the Rover 3.5 V8 P6, Ford 3.0 Consul/Granda and Mk3 Cortina area cars, Rockford was wheel spinning, racing and J turning, the cool and exotic looking 'copper mist' Pontiac Firebird. Now whilst I've owned or driven some of the aforementioned, there's nothing quite like the unfamiliar to raise the blood.

Rockford was a nice but street smart pragmatist who often coexisted within the dark and dangerous world of organised crime, his 'niceness' often meant 'pay me when you can' and he was a sucker for a pretty face. He accepted 'Angel's' terminal weakness and stretched Dennis' friendship to the limit. His trailer had more holes than a colander and he'd been shot at more times than a fairground target. Now for me, The Rockford Files is head and shoulders above his contemporary 'Cannon', where William Conrad (See him in the The Mikado), drove around in his behemoth MK3 Lincoln. More than nostalgia, it still has a good mix of storylines, action, comedy and entertainment to hold my attention today.

I bought this for my partner for his birthday (he hinted that's what he wanted for his birthday!) and he loves it. Although they were used the dvd themselves were in excellent condition.

A real classic. Cheesey plots, hammy acting, staged fights but oh my the clothes, the cars, the houses, the hair the background scenery, the American Dream. The men are men, the villans are villans and the women are Barbie. A window into a lost era on the West Coast and remember James Garner did all his own stunts. A fact that was directly responsible for curtailing the series. Settle down on the settee on a rainy Sunday afternoon and enjoy!

You can get series1/5 and save £13 by buying them without a box, I was a big fan of the Rockford files as a kid in the 70s I only got to see about 20 programs before it finished I think this program had a better fan base in the UK, I'm very pleased to have series one to five and I'm going to enjoy watching the program from start to finish
