5.0 out of 5 stars Good but it takes some watching because of the camera work.
Great teacher, great moves, h needs a better director and camera man! The Master makes it worth while though.

Having bought Shifu Yan Lei's Way of Qi Gong volume one, I had high hopes for this DVD. What makes Volume One such a great investment is that it's as though you're right there in a Qi Gong class/session with Shifu himself, so you're not only learning the movements, but you're doing the Qi Gong right along with him. Many of the movements end in postures that need to be held for three breaths. In Volume One, Shifu takes these additional breaths, allowing you time to do so as well, so you can practise and learn the technique all at the same time. Fantastic. Unfortunately, he has inexplicably abandoned this format for the 2nd and 3rd volumes of the series, and instead, whizzes through the technique in demonstration form, then teaches you the form afterwards. The problem is, when you get to the stage where you need to hold a posture for three breaths, he merely says something to the effect of, "When you get here, you would hold for three breaths" then rapidly moves on. This means it is impossible to actually do the practise as though you were in a real Qi Gong session. The only way, then, to actually practise the methods he teaches in this volume would be to watch it over and over again, take notes, memorize it all, then do it on your own, so you have time to take the required breaths.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the Qi Gong methods he goes through here are fantastic, it's just that you cannot put this DVD in and follow it and get a true Qi Gong session, because he does not conduct it that way. It's all more or less a theoretical demonstration and explanation. Too bad. He doesn't do this on Volume One, which makes it invaluable. Volumes two and three, though, are largely a waste of money.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Shaolin QI Gong Classic, 20 May 2008
This review is from: Shaolin - The Way Of Qi Gong Vol.2 [DVD] (DVD)
The Xi Sui Jing (Bone Marrow Cleansing) Qi Gong form is attributed to the Bodhidharma who not only founded Ch'an (Zen) Buddhism but also designed a series of Qi Gong exercises to improve the health and strength of the monks that studied with him.

In this DVD Shifu Yan Lei takes you step by step through this powerful sitting form, explaining each movement in detail. He also teaches the vibrational massage techniques to rejuvenate and dramatically strengthen the body. The Bone Marrow Cleansing Qi Gong cleanses toxins from the body, and purifies the brain and nervous system. Once this form is mastered it can be practiced alongside Ee Jin Jing (Muscle/Tendon changing classic).
