4.0 out of 5 stars Good story
Basically, this is a good story from a good author. Certain details from the book may have been changed, but such is the norm when translating from the page to the screen. Filming techniques have changed over 30 years (it was recorded in 1983) so it looks dated, but that doesn't really interfere with the story and I'd rather not have background music all the time...

In places the sound is not so good, but the subtitles that accompany this DD Home Entertainment/ITV release do make up for that.

What is disappointing though is the amount that has been removed. The original version had seven episodes of 45ish minutes. This comes with six episodes of around 50 minutes each. While most of the missing footage is not detrimental to the plot, 1 or 2 missing pieces are mentioned further in and does make you wonder why they bothered to remove it.

It is rather dated but a great story and well worth a watch and, if you haven't seen the full version, you might not notice what isn't there.

The DVD came unsealed, which surprised me.
