5.0 out of 5 stars GU Mixed 2
The first GU mixed was brillant, so the news of a second release was very exciting. And once again Global Underground don't disappoint.
There really are too many many hightlights to list, but this is a truly fantastic comp, once again delivered in stylish packaging.

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolute rubbish
The GU label is generally a safe bet even though some of their stuff is disappointing and not what you were expecting from certain respected DJ's. These GU mixed series however makes you want to chew your own arm off just for something to throw at the DJ, and I use the term DJ in its broadest sense here. This sort of compilation is for people who listen to pop music and...

The GU label is generally a safe bet even though some of their stuff is disappointing and not what you were expecting from certain respected DJ's. These GU mixed series however makes you want to chew your own arm off just for something to throw at the DJ, and I use the term DJ in its broadest sense here. This sort of compilation is for people who listen to pop music and feel like dipping their toe into something electronic with a base line, which of course there is absolutely nothing wrong with, just not on an UNDERGROUND mix and especially not on the Global Underground label. This sort of unwanted intrusion can only lead to the same disastrous fate that has become the Ministry of Sound, which no true self-respecting house/trance lover would ever buy from.
This stuff is about as far away as you can get from such quality DJ's such as Christopher Lawrence, Nick Warren, Deep Dish, Terry Farley, John 00 Fleming, to name but a few. It's just rasping, bleepy noises with dodgy lyrics, crap baselines and a track listing that could have been selected by a wedding DJ.
If you're a true house/trance fan, (ie someone who has been listening to it since 1989) and you're not sure about what I've written, dont do what I did and by 3 CD's at once thinking, "it'll be good, its Global Underground". Doh!! Just get one and you will be much relieved you didnt spend any more than you did.
