Hardware-wise this is classic Logitech; well-built, comfortable, quality parts. But I can't recommend it at all.

Like the vast majority of bluetooth mice it has major issues with "waking up"; from time-to-time it will disconnect completely or become very jerky. During hot weather, which seems to aggravate matters, this becomes a very frustrating experience...

My PowerBook recognised the Logitech with no fuss & so far the battery life is definitely out performing my old mouse by a country mile. I have since bought another one of these for my daughters laptop & have no hesitation in saying buy this mouse.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value For Money, 29 Nov 2008

This review is from: Logitech V470 Wireless Bluetooth Laser Laptop Mouse (White) (Personal Computers)
I bought this mouse as a replacement for the Mighty Mouse that came with my iMac and so far I'm really pleased with it.

I wanted something simple, white, reliable and cordless. For the price I thought I'd try this mouse after reading several professional and consumer reviews.

Firstly, a quick summary of it:
This is a very compact, 3-button Bluetooth laser mouse with a tilt 'n' scroll wheel. It has two normal buttons and the scroll-wheel can be pressed down as a third button. There is no side thumb button e.g. for going back in browsers. The scroll wheel has built-in, incremental 'clicks' when you scroll back and forth. It also tilts from side to side. There is a small, LED light below the scroll wheel under the 'crack' (nyarf!) left by the mouse buttons. This flashes blue when trying to connect and also when the batteries are running low. It uses two AA batteries and, to my surprise, batteries ARE included!

On the underside are the battery cover, 3 'feet'pads, a connect button and an on/off switch.

It does not come with a USB dongle or any kind of attachment. You have to have Bluetooth already, either with a dongle or built-in to your desktop/laptop.

If I had seen this mouse in a store I would've dismissed it as it's very small- much more compact and bulbous than it looks in photos. However, to use it's very comfortable. Your hand sits on top of the mouse and buttons very nicely indeed.

I haven't installed any of the software that came with it:

A) because I don't need to.
B) the included CD is Windows only.

Also included in the packaging is a small cloth bag for the mouse, presumably for those using it with a portable.

Now there's three reasons I haven't given this 5 stars, one might seem petty and the other irrelevant, but bear with me:

1) The packaging. You need a seriously sharp pair of scissors or a knife to get through the plastic. It's one of these blister packs sealed all the way round. I HATE that stuff.

2) If you sleep your PC/MAC or just don't use the mouse for a long period of time it takes a few seconds to 'wake'. I wanted to clarify if this was a Mac Bluetooth issue but it occured with my friends XP laptop also. It's a minor niggle, but a niggle nonetheless.

3) Accuracy- if I was a gamer or a serious CAD/Photoshop user I wouldn't go for this mouse- although it's a laser mouse it's not got razor-sharp accuracy. Don't get me wrong, for normal use it's fine- better than fine. But you can feel the difference if you're needing pinpoint accuracy. Not a deal-breaker for me but would be for some.

Overall though this is a tidy little mouse and although it's aimed for use with laptops/notebooks it works perfectly well with a desktop and is suitable for long periods of use.

I can't comment on battery life yet (about 3 weeks and counting) but I have AA rechargeables so it's not that big an issue for me.

I would recommend this for any computer- maybe not for a gamer because of the number of buttons and, as stated, the accuracy- and it matches a Mac set-up perfectly- white and silver. You can't complain at this price-point either.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!, 9 May 2008
This review is from: Logitech V470 Wireless Bluetooth Laser Laptop Mouse (White) (Personal Computers)
Ive just bought this for my macbook. Its a great simple bluetooth mouse. Certainly not too small as suggested in another review and fits neatly in your hand. Quickly connected to my laptop and works without fault, and I did not have to load any of the included software.

If you want a good, solid bluetooth mouse i don't think you can go wrong with this

I had an Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse before this and I must say it beats it hands down! Lightweight and portable as well as perfectly at home on your desk, the tracking is excellent and the extra functions (for macs anyway) a stroke of genius - you can personalise the scroll wheel (which also tilts from side to side) to use Spaces, Expose, Applications - practically whatever you want. The amount of control this very well-priced mouse gives you is unparalleled for any non-professional user.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Logitech V470 Wireless Bluetooth Laser Laptop Mouse (White) (Personal Computers)
I was considering buying the Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse, but was dissuaded by the poor customer reviews. So I looked into this one. I am glad I did.

It is a good size and shape, it is reliable and very handy. And it matches my white MacBook very well. I have had mine for about 3 weeks now. Battery is fine. It connected straightaway, even without the Logitech software being installed. The fact that it has no extra programmable buttons doesn't bother me. The tracking is excellent - I was just now using it on the arm of my armchair(!) and it was fine. And the Bluetooth range is great too.

And because it is Bluetooth it frees up another USB socket. One thing I was unsure about was whether or not I could use the mouse and run a connection to another Bluetooth device at the same time, I have found out that I can! A bonus!

I have had a few problems with it disconnecting itself from my MacBook, but nothing too serious. Re-pairing it has solved the problem each time.

I whole-heartedly recommend the V470.

Hardware-wise this is classic Logitech; well-built, comfortable, quality parts. But I can't recommend it at all.

Like the vast majority of bluetooth mice it has major issues with "waking up"; from time-to-time it will disconnect completely or become very jerky. During hot weather, which seems to aggravate matters, this becomes a very frustrating experience somewhat akin to trying to steer a trolley with a wobbly wheel.

In very cold conditions and from time-to-time it does work beautifully though, but don't let that deceive you - if you want precision and a stress-free life get a wired mouse or maybe one of the better none-bluetooth wireless ones.

(For what it's worth I largely use this under OSX 10.6 but the issues exist on XP also so I'm fairly sure it's the mouse itself)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Little Mouse, 4 Mar 2010

As an Apple computer user its often hard to find decent compatible accessories without paying through the nose. Since changing to Mac 3 years ago have always used the Apple Mighty Mouse, due to the great feel and functions. Deciding to change my mouse I first looked to Apple for pointers. The Logitech V470 was featured, and best of all enabled me to configure the mouse buttons similar to the way the Apple Mighty Mouse functioned. Came to Amazon (always good for a bargain) and read the reviews, a mixed bag of praise and pointless moaning. Despite a few bad reviews I bought it and haven't regretted it. I love it.
The best things are as follows.
1 - It's Mac compatible
2 - It's bluetooth so no nonsense with infra-red senders/receivers
3 - Easy to set up, you are up and running in no time at all
4 - You can configure the mouse buttons and features the way you want them ( i've set my scroll wheel to work apple expose functions the mighty mouse carried out)
5 - It's ergonomic and comfy to use

In response to people complaining about the wee delay in the mouse responding - it only happens if you don't use the mouse for a minute or so. I consider it to be a minor thing and consider it to be no more than a power saving utility. The mouse doesn't disconnect and doesn't require reconnecting. Use the configuration utility to adjust your tracking speed it may help. This point I do concede may be linked with your operating system, I use Mac OSX and I realise it may be better in functioning with the mouse than with Windows. If the wee delay, which is insignificant, is too much for you I suggest sticking with a USB mouse.

I wanted a wireless to replace my standard mighty mouse that came with my imac and went for this Logitech based on reviews. If you want a white wireless mouse to match your imac then i think it's pretty much this or the apple mouse. My reason for replacing the mighty mouse is the scroll wheel which had been playing up from time to time and eventually, now it won't scroll up. No problems with the Logitech scrolling and it can even scroll left and right. Connection was so easy, no need to install software; just whack the free batteries in and get your imac to discover the mouse and thats it. You can adjust speed , settings etc in systems preferences to suit your need, simple.

The only downsides i have discovered so far (i got it today), have already been mentioned and they are pretty minor. That is, that the mouse is a little smaller than normal so might take some getting used to; the button clicks do seem a bit loud and there's no handy side button which you can press on the mighty mouse to show all the web pages you have open (though this can be done by pressing F9 on the keyboard).

Overall, so far, so good!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great item - but too big and heavy!, 24 Oct 2009
By
This review is from: Logitech V470 Wireless Bluetooth Laser Laptop Mouse (White) (Personal Computers)
This arrived by courier about half an hour ago this morning and I got it up and running in seconds. Using it with my Samsung N110 Netbook without installing the software. Can't notice any perfomance difference to using a wired mini mouse so far.

I wanted a small cordless mouse, but one that didn't have to use a wireless dongle connector so the Bluetooth option of this one was really appealing.

However, the biggest disappointment is the size. It is described as a mouse for Notebooks, which you would imagine means that it is small and transportable. I got the white one to match my white netbook but it dwarfs it. And it is really heavy - probably due to the fact it uses two AA batteries (included). Why not smaller AAA? Maybe I will find out if this is down to battery consumption - either way I will be using rechargable.

If I was using it with a desktop then OK - but the whole idea of me getting at Netbook is for travel.

I much prefer using a mouse with a laptop and the Belkin Mini Optical Glow Mouse I have been using is a perfect size and is almost weightless, but let down only by it being wired. This Bluetooth mouse wins in every other way - just let down by the size and weight.

Would have been really helpful for the actual dimensions and weight of the mouse to be included in Amazon's product description. If this info had been there, I wouldn't have bought it.

In summary - great mouse, easy connection, looks stylish, Downside is the size and weight for mobile use with a Netbook.

I've been using this mouse on my MacBook Pro for nearly 6 months now and I love it. First, it works on the Mac OS X 10.5 without having to install the driver on the disk that comes with the mouse. That driver provides some additional functions, but I've read that it's a nasty kernel extension driver so avoided it. The OS X mouse preference panel provides everything I need. The 3rd button works and I can push the scroll wheel left and right and applications respond to it.

I got through 4 months using it all the time during working hours on a pair of Duracells.

It's attractive, matches the colour scheme of the Mac, comes with it's own protective pouch for carrying, and is generally well designed and a nice item to own. It will track on all surfaces I've tried it on. Much better than the previous non-laser mice i've used. Best of all it doesn't require any dongle plugged into the computer - as most wireless mice seem to.

There is some lag when compared with wired mice. This initially put me off using the mouse but I persevered and got used to it after a few days. Now I don't notice it. I think such lag is inevitable given this is a bluetooth mouse and therefore the signal is always going to take slightly longer to reach the computer and be processed as compared with a wired mouse. Other bluetooth mice i've used are the same.
