I love this track from Sophie's superb album 'Trip The Light Fantastic'. I've no idea what on earth the first so-called "review" is all about; the album is Sophie's most accomplished and varied work yet. It's also done well in the charts - a number 7 album is a success, not a flop, and a Top Ten single is something many artists would kill for. Personally, although I love this song, I think there are more obvious choices for a single on the album, like 'If You Go', 'Love Is Here' and 'Supersonic', but I still wish her all the best with it.However, even if you've got the album, you owe it to yourself to get this CD for the amazing new track 'Duel'. Sophie's most recent singles have both had excellent bonus tracks, and this one is no exception. It's actually a cover of a minor 80's hit by long-forgotten German band Propaganda, and although I can't remember the original Sophie's version is fabulous!

Another catchy track from Sophie and dripping with class as usual. Coupled with another unreleased track making this a must-buy item for us fans. However, why on earth do Polydor keep releasing 2 track CD singles in the UK and Europe? Hardly great value. Especially when remixes regularly appear on the download and vinyl versions. Also, the Australian release of 'Catch You' (another 2 track job here) contained 4 tracks AND the video. If record companies want physical sales to pick up then they must really start making these releases better value-for-money. They certainly used to be! And this is why I have been forced to give a 3-star rating to my favourite female singer. It's not Sophie's fault, it's Polydor's!

As mentioned elsewhere on this page, this single (from the excellent album "Trip The Light Fantastic" which I also own) is still worth acquiring for the b-side alone! The titular A-side has a nice beat and is catchy enough on its own (even though it has been trimmed a little for the radio market) but doesn't offer anything extra compared to the album version, which in any case is 30 seconds longer. Her cover of Propaganda's "Duel" on the flip side however is absolutely terrific (one of those rare cases where I rate a cover every bit as highly as the original) and as such is the main reason I'd happily recommend this to anybody (fan or not). The only downside is the already oft-repeated gripe regarding the fact this is a two-track CD single and would work better with an extra remix or non-album song thrown in, but to repeat that ad nauseam would be a little unfair and so I won't bother. So to sum up, if you like Sophie - buy it and likewise if you want a modern take on an 80s synthpop classic. But if you don't want to spend a wadge of your hard-earned cash for the a-side alone and 80s covers aren't your cup of tea, get the album instead. Can't make it any clearer than that!

Well Trip The Light Fantastic, is great, this is a super single, to the comments on this album, it was number 7 in the UK, which is good for pop these days. And Me And My Imagintion has been number 1 in a few countries abroad. This is a great track and i love it. Perect summer song. Its beat calms you totally and the lyrics are super and roll as a mini film Another belter sophie ellis bextor

Another great track from sophie!,

I think this is a great third single. Its a good summer song that cheers you up on a dull day. She is amoung the best female artist in the UK for producing good pop songs, its not a dance song this one, its more mid tempo ballad, which is something pleasantly different. The charts are not that important as pop is not chart music, look at the top 40 now, very very few pop songs, so its great to have her flying the pop flag, it is good pop / dance. I do recommend this single, very good.

Sophie Ellis Bextor - Today the sun's on us,
By

Well, I am pretty sure that the third single will be another Top 30 single in UK and that is after all not good. "Catch you" was not the best choice for a first single and one week in the UK Top 10 was not good either. "Me and my imagination" was a good song, but there was no interest in Sophie anymore. I mean why does Sophie just release her songs in the UK? She released a lot of her older stuff in Europe and was quite successful, but now? I mean "Trip the light fantastic" was such a flop in the charts and she can't repair this. "Read my lips" was a brilliant album. People had no interest in "Shoot from the Hip" because there was less promotion and less intention to be a successful album. She released it earlier, because of her baby. After 3 years she comes back with some dance tracks without meaning. What the hell happend with Sophie Ellis Bextor? I mean nobody mentioned "Me and my imagination" at all, and nobody will recognize "Today the sun's on us". This is a slow ballad about a couple, but the beat is flat and boring and her voice is cold and monotone. The complete record sounds monotone although their are some catchy dance tracks on it. For those who know her album:"If I can't dance" will be the fourth single in UK and if you know the song, you will die. Another dance track without meaning, another cheap beat, another montone voice. There are songs as "If you go" or "China Heart" which are very good, really. But then she said that if there will be a fifth single, it will be "Love is here". This song again is dance-pop and the same again. Always the same music, always the same style, always the same voice. There is nothing that can surprise you - she is just doing dance track after dance track, but nothing good enough for the charts. At all her music is no longer creative or full with ideas. It is just dance-pop without meaning for people who have no expectations.
