5.0 out of 5 stars A revelation!
We were given the tefal 4-in-1 as a wedding gift. We've had it a couple of months now and have used 3 of the 4 functions. Rice cooking, slow cooking and steaming. I have provided a quick review of each. Rice cooking has been spot on. Perfectly cooked rice every time. 1.0 out of 5 stars new model out now
Tefal are now launching an 8 in 1 multi cooker that addresses a lot of the criticisms mentionned in the one and two star rating reviews with amazon, for this 4 in one model. the new model has a specific setting for brown rice and fast rice as well as grains, and also it has a timer so that slow cooking can set to suit the individual (the 4 in one only has a standard 9...

5.0 out of 5 stars A revelation!,
This review is from: Tefal 4 in 1, RK701115 Slow Cooker, Steamer, Rice Cooker, Porridge Maker, Brushed Chrome (Kitchen & Home)We were given the tefal 4-in-1 as a wedding gift. We've had it a couple of months now and have used 3 of the 4 functions. Rice cooking, slow cooking and steaming. I have provided a quick review of each. Rice cooking has been spot on. Perfectly cooked rice every time. We have used some of the recipes provided and we now like to do the rice with added vegetables and stock - very tasty.
Steaming worked really well, turning out well cooked salmon and trout.
The slow cooking was a real surprise. We cooked a beef bourguignon and it was amazing. It made enough for 3 meals (there are only the two of us) and it froze and reheated really well. We will be using this a lot more. We left it to cook for 8 hrs and were a bit worried what we'd find when we opened it up. We needn't have worried. Fall-apart tender beef (we'd used cheap stewing steak), perfectly cooked veg and a delicious deep flavour.
All in all given the versatility we've been really pleased with this gift. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep it on the top..You will use it often.,
This review is from: Tefal 4 in 1, RK701115 Slow Cooker, Steamer, Rice Cooker, Porridge Maker, Brushed Chrome (Kitchen & Home)All too often we buy yet another gadget to add to our kitchen and then find that it disappears out of sight. This is one that I use contantly. Stew type dishes come to mind straight away because the food ends up being so tender and the taste is great because the cooking is contained in the pot. You can therefore, use the cheaper cuts of meat with great success
It is absolutely great for when you have guests. I prepare food in the slow cooker before they come and then I can then spend time enjoying the visit. Recently, we all went on a picnic and returned home to a hot supper stew with crusty bread. It was so appreciated. Another event was a party where I was nominated for producing a curry dish. I took the slo-cooker with me and it finished the cooking whilst we were all having fun.
One of the reasons I chose this model was because of the clip down lid. (My old crockpot tipped all it's contents into the boot of my car)It is not just for stew type dishes though. You can produce a whole chicken or joint of meat in it very successfully and puddings too!. There are hundreds of recipes out there on the internet under the heading of crockpot or slo-cooker so you will never be stuck for ideas. I do use the porridge maker too. In 9 minutes you have your porridge made. Just throw the ingredients in the pot press the button and hey presto!!(just time to take a shower)
Like the other owners, I have found the rice cooker great. I often make a bigger batch and freeze what I don't use on the day.
I have no hesitation in saying that this is worthy of the 5 stars that I have awarded it.

4.0 out of 5 stars fantastic bit of kitchen kit,
This review is from: Tefal 4 in 1, RK701115 Slow Cooker, Steamer, Rice Cooker, Porridge Maker, Brushed Chrome (Kitchen & Home)Am really pleased with my purchase of this item. I use it most days - make porridge in the morning, cook grains like quinoa and millet to make salads for my packed lunch, steam veggies and the occasional ready meal in the steamer basket and have made some really lovely winter stews on the slow cook function. I've never managed to cook quinoa in a pan, but the rice cooker does it to perfection. Am really looking forward to experimenting further with it, and will try to make polenta using the porridge function tomorrow. if it was a bit cheaper, I'd buy another one (so that I can cook my stew and my grains/veggies at the same time). The downsides are small, but the non-stick surface of the pot is VERY delicate, mine has a scratch already and if the pot goes then I won't think its such a good buy. Also the steamer basket is very shallow, so it is not such a good buy if the steaming aspect is very important to you. However - these are small complaints, and I would recommend one for every kitchen. Oh, and it's very easy and quick to clean (non-stick surface and all that!!).
Just to update- I have now have this product for four years and it is still one of the best kitchen purchases I ever made. The bowl still works well despite me dropping it on the floor and denting it out of shape. I did enquire at that point how much a new bowl would be, and it was exhorbitant, but managed to knock the bowl back into shape by deliberately dropping it on the other side. Still couldnt recommend this more, which I think is unusual after four years use!

5.0 out of 5 stars Miraculous, fire and forget, magic gadget ! U need one of these !,
Anyway, I was at a friends one weekend and it just amazed me that they were able to concentrate on cooking the food rather than having to continually check the rice pot all of the time especially as there were 12 of us over for a spot of impromptu dinner.
When they'd finished cooking the chicken that we were having, they had piping hot, perfectly fluffy rice to go alongside, all thanks to this marvelous gadget.
Sure, you may be able to cook perfect rice or indeed porridge perfectly, but the convenience of just adding the ingredients and then just leaving it can't be beaten.
I am 100% converted and my wife who actually thinks she can cook better than I can, thinks so too :-)
Word of advise though. The kids will love using this for porridge, its just so easy to use. Just make sure your teenage draughtier doesn't pour porridge and milk straight in to the machine without the cooking bowl being inside of it. That will be the end of your pride and joy and you'll have to buy another one, like I just did :-(

5.0 out of 5 stars A little expensive - but excellent for all purposes.......,
But as you can see I've given it 5 stars because that's is truly what it deserves. Trust me, or make your own mind up - but I have no problems in recommending this product. It really is excellent - even if a it's maybe little expensive. In the end though, I think quality and reliablity counts for more.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent rice cooker with respectable slow cooker for those short on space,
I was initially a little doubtful about the slow-cooker's capability, especially as many printed recipes assume you have a low, high and auto setting. The manual didn't help much either, so I did some experiments and this is what I observed on my unit. Essentially it heated the contents of the pot at about 640W (much higher power than a classic slow cooker I think) until it reached about 84 celcius (irrespective of the chosen duration). It maintained this temperature on a thermostat for the chosen duration. When it flicked over to keep warm, the temperature dropped to around 74 celcius and was maintained there. I was able to use this information in conjunction with information about high, medium and low Slow Cooker settings on Wikipedia to get a much better idea of how to convert the recipes. Shame I had to go to these lengths when they could have just put it in the manual.
The porridge is also fantastic, by the way, but we found we have to cook it much longer than the manual suggests.
I find it tricky to extract the bowl from the unit when serving and have to lever it up with a spatula, and the condensed water round the lid always needs mopping up with a cloth after use; but in spite of all that, if it broke I'd buy another one tomorrow!
