After seeing this rated as the best teether in a baby magazine I thought I'd give it a try. It is more expensive than other teethers (my husband was horrified when I confessed to the cost) but my son will not use any others and loved Sophie from day one. She comes everywhere with us. I did make the mistake of putting it in the sterisliser (wanted it to be clean before he put is in his mouth) and it hasn't squeaked since!

Don't be deceived by its appearance... We thought surely this is a dog toy, but no... This is the best toy we were given for our baby. He LOVES it! Easy to grab when they are first learning to pick things up, lovely to chew when the gums are sore and squeaks! Our 10 month old still loves his.

A friend bought this for my son when he was born and he has loved it from day one! Not only because it squeaks, but also because he can chew on it to his heart's desire and he can grab hold of it easily. It's a great toy for him to play with in his pram and it's also proving very useful in helping him to learn to crawl as he turns over often to try and grab it. Highly recommended as a gift!

I was delighted when this arrived and my little boy (4.5 months) took to it right away. The neck is really easy for him to hold and the feet, ears and head great for chewing. HOWEVER - the same morning it arrived I spotted that the rubber coating of the toy had torn on the ear where he had been chewing it and there was a small flap of rubber hanging off! The material underneath the coating crumbled when I scratched it so I obviously had to take it from him and we can't use it.

I contacted the seller who said this is the first problem they've been told about with this toy and I may have received a defective one so perhaps my experience was a one off. My little one has his two bottom teeth, so I would say if a baby playing with this has new, sharp teeth coming through keep a very close eye that they don't bite through it. I will be asking for a refund rather than a replacement and sticking to other teething toys. Shame as the shape works really well.

If I could, I would give this toy no stars at all!

My 4 month old baby had the toy for just 2 days (20 minutes playing time), and managed to create a split in one of the giraffe's ears, leaving part of it hanging off. My baby has no teeth and I obviously found this very alarming, to the point that I contacted our local Trading Standards office. I was concerned that the split could result in a chunk of rubber coming off altogether, which my baby could then inhale. Apparently this is the first time this problem has been raised with this product, so I was informed that no further action would be taken. However, reading the reviews on Amazon it appears this is not a one off at all. This toy left me feeling angry and upset and of course I have requested a full refund.

Despite reading review from this site that rubber piece is easy to fall, I purchased this product as majority of the people did like it. However, to my surprise, when I was washing it 2 minutes after receiving it, one piece of rubber fell from the ear. I still wanted to try it and gave the giraffe to my 4 month old. She chewed on one of the ears straight away which was good. But when she finished chewing, I noticed the paint on that ear was faded. Obviously, the paint went into my bb's tummy. Although the manufacturer claimed it was food paint, I don't think it is good to a 4 month bb anyway. I also did some research online trying to find out if it's safe to swallow the rubber. Guess what I found? A lot negative reviews on Amazon US site that bb could easily get one foot into their throat to cause choking. If it was a single case, I wouldn't mind. But so many parents had come across it. I decided to return the product straight away.

I ordered sophie the giraffe after reading great reviews about her, i can tell you they are all true! my husband and family members all laughed at me when she arrived and i lovingly called her sophie from day 1. at the time my 2 1/2 month old son took a liking to her straight away and after a few days constantly put her in his mouth. 3 months later everytime i pull sophie out his face lights up, we take her everywhere- he loves her!it has also been the only teether that he has got on with because he can hold her from all angles and put different parts in his mouth. i now buy sophie for anyone who has a baby!!!

Our baby loves Sophie but I am suspicious that the product we received from this supplier may not be the genuine article. When I compared it to those bought by other mums, the spots on our Sophie are a different colour and after wiping our Sophie with a babywipe a couple of times the spots have started peeling off. I will now not allow my daughter to play with this Sophie for fear of her swallowing the bits of the spots that come off and because I cannot be sure exactly what this toy is made of.

I bought Sophie a couple of months ago as my son had been teething from four weeks old (he is now six months)and had tried pretty much everything on the market. I came across this whilst searching for something else on Amazon. After reading the reviews i thought i would try it for my son. All i can say is he hasnt really let go of it since i bought it, only when he sleeps. It has been great for chewing/gnawing on and provides much comfort in his hours of need on a daily basis. It has a nice soft feel to it, its easy for him to grip and also has a little squeak which he enjoys. I have told all of my fellow parents of this magnificent Teether toy and continue to hear great reviews. I feel you wont be disappointed.

When my now 23 yr old son was a baby he teethed on a cheap wee rubber giraffe that we took everywhere with him.....when looking for something similar for my 4 month old Granddaughter I came across Sophie....it's fab and she loves it....it's maybe not cheap but it's worth every penny....it's perfect for little hands to hold....they'll love chewing on Sophie's legs and head....I highly recommend this for your baby
