carpathian forest,a two man black-metal project with "R.nattefrost"&"J.nordavind"..this is their third album i believe and 4th release overall..this is the only carpathian forest album i`ve heard before..and i have to say its pretty damn good..a very varied album...from the straight-ahead black metal fast paced songs such as "bloodcleansing""mask of the slave"..which are both decent black metal tracks in their own right...what does it for me though on this album is the slower, more obscure "thantology"..quite bizarre sounding..and certainly quite creepy...almost depressive like that song..this album has two guests musicians.."tchort"(who some might know played bass on emperor`s "in the nightside eclipse")..and "A.kobro"...(who does drum duties in carpathian forest so i`m guessing he does the same in his main band "in the woods"....drums..i have no complaint about..and general song writing/ well thought out..and well played..the vocals..are a plus..nice black metal vocals..although certainly no of greatness..the whole album has a rock `n roll feel to it..this is not as bad as it sounds...its just..i guess a combination of the production and the song writing..which gives it that only complaint is that some songs like "hes turning blue" or "the suicide song" sound just a tad too punk-like...(punk being a genre i`ve never liked)..but taking those dubious tracks aside...its a damn good album...

This cd contains a cold feeling with great guitar-riffs and raw vocals, that only can be heard in the old norwegian black metal bands.
