Hit and Miss Thing

I like Alan Carr a lot. I think his material is well-observed, fresh and insightful by and large. I found the routine on this DVD however something of a mixed bag.
Was about 15 minutes in before the first proper laugh. And there are some laugh out loud moments to be found on here but altogether I found it a very patchy set. It works best when he explores a topic at length but lots of times he just lurches from one theme to another with no real connectedness.
He could take a few lessons from Margaret Cho's first two stand up videos in terms of consistancy of storytelling. And tackle a few more overtly gay topics. I may be wrong but it feels like he's dumbed the content down to appeal to a (largely) straight/broader audience.
