You could see the light bulb go on (literally) with my seven year old as he discovered through play all about electricity using this toy. Being bright but never exposed to circuits before, he learned some big concepts about electricity by doing these simple and effective experiments . But that was only half the fun, he soon went on to build the car and boat and his own creations with this unique and simple to use kit. Brilliant buy would highly recommend for kids who are interested in science, how things work or inventions. Fantastic value for money.

My 7 year old son bought this with his birthday money, and it has been a great hit. The ease with which he can build, and experiment with, simple circuits - using the snap fastener links - is superb. Some of the activities are still a bit advanced for him, but I am confident that the durability of the set will ensure it is still in play when he is ready for the next stages.

I bought this for my 8 year old brother and have sat for hours tinkering with the little devices.

Very broad choice of things to make from the pre-set things to your own creations (if you're electronically minded).

The only problem we've had so far is a fuse blown, but it came with a replacement so not to worry!

Certainly very educational and interesting.

My nephews were over the moon with this gift, they'd seen it advertised on tv. I didn't know this but was looking for something slightly different and more constructive than the usual gifts and thought this would fit the bill. I can honestly say that this is an ideal present.

My 6 and 8 year old boys received a set each for Christmas and are both absolutely delighted.

I was very surprised how quickly they both managed to put together a car without help from me, despite the fact that I found the manual rather complicated. There is a lot text and only a single photo shot of the end result and some of the photos are quite small. Nevertheless there must be something very intuitive about this set as both boys have come up with lots of combinations and they seem to be learning a lot on their own. Later they should learn even more when we read more of the manual together.

This electricity set has so much more appeal than most others on the market for the simple reason that it includes wheels and a float!

Pros - My son loves it. The set provides a fun way for him to learn something new and use his imagination. There are different things you can do with the set to keep you from being bored.

Cons - The parts provided do not match the instruction manual. For instance, there are 2 propellers/fans, one red the other yellow. The manual gets them mixed up. This isn't a huge deal but for a child may be confusing. One fan cannot be placed straight onto the motor but requires the provided spiggot to be used. The spiggot in our set did not fit in the fan so the fan simply fell off the end and could not be used. Another example is the basic circuit parts which come in various lengths. One experiment (the alarm) instructed the use of 2 x 4 length parts the kit only had 1 of these. We got around this by using a 5 length part which didn't look as tidy but did the trick. But I wonder if we are going to become unstuck in some later experiments when some other required parts are not provided. The strange thing is that it's not as though there appear to be missing parts the packaging is well fabricated to house each part and there are no places for additional components so basically the manual does not tie in with what you get in the box.

Conclusion - It's an ok kit. Very easy to use and children will like it. Just be prepared for some adjustments and to not be able to make everything in the manual.

My grandson got hours of enjoyment from this kit. It was both educational and fun. A bit of adult input was required as he had just turned 9 but it was a great present.

My son is 8 and this xmas present kept him entertained for hours. Great fun and educational at the same time. Probably learnt more than he would have done in a classroom environment and provides good parent/child quality time.
