5.0 out of 5 stars A well written story of Night Fighting, 9 April 2011
After finishing Cover of darkness I had to read more about the experiences of night-fighter crews. Cover of Darkness was written by Rodrick Chisholm, a very successful fighter pilot. This book is written by John Cunningham's navigator/ radar operator (originally he was an air gunner) and so has a different, but equally interesting prospective. If you enjoy this book I would recommend Cover of Darkness.

Robert Wright, the co-author, was also a night-figher navigator , but he was also a writer before the war and this book reflects that in the quality of the writing. It's a very human account and doesn't shy away from the fear, the nerves and the self doubt that all aircrews had to struggle with. John Cunningham went on to score more night kills than any other British pilot and Rawnsley was there for most of them. This book is an account of their exploits throughout the war and tells the story of the development of night fighting from the earliest days to the end of the war. A thoroughly good read.
