Taken from the tour that followed Muddy's storming comeback album "Hard Again", these recordings were apparently tough to extract from some shambolic tapes. There are a lot of people singing and it seems everyone just beasted in to whatever mic was nearest at any given time. Nice and casual but hardly the best way to capture the best sound.

While it is the band which made the terrific studio album, be warned that the duties are not split on the same basis here. James Cotton and Johnny Winter do a lot of the vocals, and the lack of Muddy did disappoint me. He was 64 at the time and doubtless had to conserve his energies, which is quite understandable. Just don't expect a Muddy-fronted band. They've been honest though and namechecked all three.

While this album will delight many people, I would say that it is not a patch on Muddy "Mississippi" Waters Live (similar band and from a couple of years later), and if you haven't heard that then its probably a better purchase than this album.

This is a fine reminder of how great Johnny Winter and Muddy Waters were together back in the day. The recordings here are 30 years old and sound like a high quality bootleg. The passion and the joy of the blues leaps out of the speakers despite this. These concerts were recorded at the height of punk - you wouldn't guess from the tunes herein. Pure gold. There has been some jiggery pokery at the mixing desk, but this has only made things better. If you like the blues you'll love this - real, raw and rockin'.

Recorded in 1977, it's great to finally have it released (2007) and available in multiple formats. Fantastic concert with the greatest of bluesmen Muddy Waters... along with great names like the fantastic James Cotton and his harmonica, Winter's guitar and of course, Pinetop Perkins, the greatest blues piano player ever (personal opinion).
Highly recommended to any blues lover!

Johnny winter done a good gob getting muddy back on track with this cd I purchased this after reading up on winters persistence and determination to get Muddy back in the studio. One of Muddys best recording as yet.

Picked this CD up as a bargain. What a pick. Some great live music going back to the 70's, brilliant musicians and a real good listen. IF you like Muddy, Johnny or James, a must buy
