Bye bye bluetack
on 15 May 2012
I've bought these Command adhesive strips a few times now to hang a 12ft x 3ft birthday banner weighing 600g, cinema sized movie posters, door posters, wall charts and all kinds of stuff.
There are 4 sets of small strips and 8 sets of medium in this packet,
They can be used on painted, stained or varnished wood, glass, tiles, metal, plaster and painted breeze block. These cannot be used on brick or wallpaper!
All's you do to use them is. . .take one off the strip. One side is red and the other side is black. Peel off the red side and stick it to the poster, picture or whatever. Press down firmly! Then peel off the black side and position your poster/picture on the wall and again press firmly for 30 seconds! This is important as I guess this stuff is pressure/heat sensitive and the act of pressing down on it will increase the bond strength. That's it, it's up! They hold very firmly.
To remove these things you don't pull them towards you! You take a good grip on the rounded bottom bit and pull the strip downwards straight down the wall. They will stretch about 4-6 inches and suddenly release cleanly from the wall, very clever!
If!. . .you do have a problem and it's stuck to the wall, don't rip it off in a panic! Get a hair dryer (if you're bald, borrow one!) and warm the strip up a bit and then get some dental floss and drag it down the strip flush with the wall and it will remove it, like a cheese wire cutting action!
The recommended temps for using these are 10-40 deg C (40-105 deg F)
So many uses for these, highly recommended.
