Any opportunity to listen to 'lites should never be missed. The production standards are crap, they are often out of tune with each and themselves, and it really doesn't matter a jot. Go see them, on their 42 year tour (2012). Pay your dues; you probably wouldn't even be looking at the album review if you didn't care.

Born white, 1960 Leeds through childhood and beyond I caught glimpses of gorgeous music but never knew what/who it was.
Pre internet it was difficult knowing what and who to look for.
Mates from London had excellent singles late 70's early 80's.
And so I gradually found tracks and names and groups.
Stranger Cole & Lester Sterling - Bangerang
Stranger Cole - Rough and Tough
Tommy McCook & Sterling - Inez
This led to Skatellites and to this cd.
For one of the best live shows try cut+paste youtube:- [...]
On any cd I usually have fave tracks and others I dip into.
On this one (go on youtube and try them) the 2 best are
Disc 1 - track 17 Sandy Gully
Disc 2 - track 9 Inez
Sadly front man/sax Tommy McCook died 1998 and double bassist Lloyd Brevett died this year 2012.
So the 'Skatellites' brand name may continue live but the late greats are gone.
