4.0 out of 5 stars For being for kids, he's quite awkward
I bought Leader Megatron last month because I was curious. And another Megatron in the collection never hurts.
I had heard things said about him being awkward to transform, mostly in the legs, and the people who said that are right. His transformation is more or less easy, except for the legs which can be misleading due to how thick they are. For an adult it can...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for the young!
My husband and I bought this toy for our 5 years olds birthday. He loves the transformers and has lots of the smaller ones. We thought it would be great for him to have a large one to go with his collection.

It is too big for a little 5 year olds hands. It takes my usband or I ages to hold it together to transform it. This is the second one we have (the...

4.0 out of 5 stars For being for kids, he's quite awkward, 5 Nov 2007

I bought Leader Megatron last month because I was curious. And another Megatron in the collection never hurts.
I had heard things said about him being awkward to transform, mostly in the legs, and the people who said that are right. His transformation is more or less easy, except for the legs which can be misleading due to how thick they are. For an adult it can be awkward, for a kid it would likely have Megatron really flying, into a wall.

Outside of being awkward to transform, though after a while it becomes second nature, his sounds are alright and his articulation isn't too bad, though Leader class Optimus Prime is better in that area. Megatron's sounds are more akin to a robotic scream, his auto morph features are alright, but not quite as good as the ones on Prime.

He has a whip like in the movie, the whip is his right hand and can be a little awkward to put back into his arm at first, but you soon get the hang of it. His other weapons is a gun in his left arm which is triggered by pulling back on a lever in the large part on his arm, it doesn't stay in place too well though.

Due to the way he transforms, his head doesn't move much unless you pop it up, which looks weird. The large parts in robot mode, that were formly the front parts of the Cybertrion jet mode, don't have anything to attach to in robot mode, so they flop around a little too easily.

In terms of educational, his transformation can be good for helping in hand/eye cooridnation and puzzle solving, like a lot of Transformers can be.

So in full, he's not bad, maybe somewhat complicated for kids, maybe not, it depends on the child. He does look good, though could have been given better paints to better suit his movie look. He's quite big, though thankfully not very fragile.
Good, but really could have been better. For kids he might be a bit complicated, but still a lot of fun.

This is the second one we have (the first was relplaced for the following...), the parts do not click and hold in place, due to the weight and heavy structure to it, hense why you find yourself holding it in place to transform.

it is very durable, but like the previous review said the legs are impossible, and even though we are on our second one, the legs will not stayin place, when tucked under the wings.

I have to say I would not have considered this for such a young child, and it spends most if its time stuck in the toy box, while he plays with all the others, he just does not enjoy it!

hope this helps...

4.0 out of 5 stars OOO Fiddley, 6 Feb 2008

Right i decided to spoil my 5 yr old son this year & bought him Six Transformers in all lol.
THis was a slight oversight as now i seem to spend most of my life transforming them into their differant shapes. oops
Just want to say to anyone with young children these are a little too fiddley & difficault for younger children. My son loves the toys very much & so far have easily stood up to the Hammer he puts them through.

Overall he loves the toys so thats all that matters, but they are very hard to convert......hope this gives fair warning!!!
