An essential baby-buy for anyone who carries their baby/toddler!,

Absolutely fabulous! I bought one when my daughter was 5 months old as at 17lbs she was just too heavy for me to carry her in the baby carrier -my back was in bits! But she loves being able to see what's going on and arches her back to get out of the pushchair! Now 8 months old I don't know what we'd do without it. We take it out everywhere with us and it was particularly useful in the airport as we checked our pushchair in with our bags. I have it on permanently at home as with 3 flights of stairs it is a saviour. Ready to use straight out of the box; the belt part (100% nylon) velcros around your waist and there's a click in fastener for extra security. To put it on you position the seat (100% polyurethane and removable when you want to wash the belt) over your right hip and once on can use it on either side. As your baby/child is not attached you must hold on to them while seated. When out and about and not in use I velcro it around the pushchair handle. I have had no back pain since using this ingenious invention and have a very happy baby who can interact with mummy and see the world go by. An essential baby-buy for anyone who carries their baby/toddler!

must-have life-saver,
This review is from: Hippychick Hipseat (Black) (Baby Product)
Fantastic product! Stops me getting the tensed and painful muscles in upper arm and shoulder that I had before and allows me to walk straight, not with my hip sticking out. When my one year old son (all 11kgs of him, bless) is having a "clingy" phase, I often walk around with the hip seat on most of the afternoon, whether I'm carrying him or not, and can immediately sit him on it if he demands it. All I then need to do is lightly hold onto him with one hand and can do loads of things in and around the house at the same time. And it goes without saying that my son loves being on the seat because he's close to his mum! I can carry him for much longer than without the seat and do not have to put him down because he is too heavy or my arm is killing me. I also use the hip seat if I'm going into town by car and only have one or two things to do, leaving the buggy at home. And I've also walked the dog while carrying my son on the hip seat. In fact, it accompanies me most of the time, even if I have the buggy with me, the hip seat is velcro-ed to the handle, just in case. Wish I had known about them when my oldest son was born. It takes a couple of tries to get the right position on waist/hip (I hold my breath and wrap it around my waist, fasten the clasp and then twist it round and push it down onto my left hip), but after that, off you go. It's sturdy and well-made, and I can only recommend it most highly.

Very easy and comfortable to use. Saves my back and arms from aching and means I can get on with lots of jobs when the baby won't let me put him down, without becoming exhausted. He still enjoys sitting on it now as a toddler. I would definitely recommend it.

A great alternative,

We bought one of these for our 18 month old, and it is excellent. I use it to carry her on the walk to nursery (which is about a mile) and I find it really easy. The passenger is held at torso/face level so you can talk straightforwardly face-to-face (unlike in a buggy or backpack), it is much easier to get on than a backpack with a kid installed and it takes up very little room. Also, as I write this, the ground is covered with snow/slush/ice which make pushing a buggy impossible- if you can walk it, then you can carry your tot in this. It is so comfortable that I sometimes use it round the house if she is being very clingy or I can't be bothered to fit her into her high chair for a snack. I really recommend this product... especially for the price!

Bought HippyChick for a friend who has just had a baby, using this seat for 2+ years I've found it a 'life saver'. Very easy to put on and to take off and to place a child on/off, unlike some of other 'backpack' type of carriers. Leaves one hand free to do the work. I still can carry my 2,5 years old for considerable time (if needed) using this belt... although if you are a skinny type the belt might rub after a while, still highly recommended.

I considered buying this for a month as i thought it was a bit pricey esp since i already had a baby carrier. When it first arrived i tried it on and thought what a waste of money and decided that i should return it......its good that i kept putting off going to the post office!!!!!!!!!I love it , my baby is tall for his age and carrying him on my arms was difficult. Now he is 12 months old and i use it all the time and have been for 3 months now.It frees one of your arms to do things and has saved me loads of back and arm ache Definately worth its money!

This is brilliant for when I am just popping somewhere and I cant be bothered to put the pram out. The only trouble is that I find things like getting money out of my handbag a bit tricky and my hip does start to hurt after a while. Great to have in the car though for when a short trip is needed, as it really does take the weight of baby.

Great alternative to slings and carriers,

It's great to carry a child around a house, as you can put him down if you need to and easily pick him up again. Can't do it with a sling or a carrier as it take time to put child into and take him out. I use both sling and hipseat as they are good for different purposes.

Bought this following a recommendation. V comfy & easy to use. Haven't used it a great deal yet but did visit a national trust house over easter and saw a couple of mums get theirs out to carry their children round, prams not able to be used. my son loves sitting on it and it totally takes the weight off my arms trying to hold him and my posture is much improved.
