I bought this vacuum cleaner solely based on the customer reviews that I read here and they were one hundred percent correct. A powerful little vacuum cleaner that makes sweeping the stairs a doddle. I had a Dirt Devil previously but it died a death, plus I had to buy the bags for it. Now I'm bagless and this Electrolux model makes the Dirt Devil seems like its battery operated equivalent, no contest. Highly recommended for both the home, car and caravan. Thank you Electrolux, you never seem to let me down.

I read loads of reviews about these little cleaners and really wasn't sure which one to go for but I am so impressed with the Electrolux that I just had to write a review myself. I bought it primarly for use in our caravan but since purchasing it we have been using it at home and I think I might have to buy a second one !! We live in a house with 3 floors, so thats lots of stairs and we have 2 pussies, so thats lots of hairs !! When we got the Electrolux I had just vacuumed the stairs with our Dyson 2 days earlier and I was gobsmacked what the Electrolux picked up !! It is so much easier to use on the stairs than the Dyson and I would not say that was difficult but it made vacuuming quicker and I'm all for that. When I had finished using it I emptied the bin bit just by tapping it against the wheelie bin outside and I used a dustpan brush on the filter bit which had attracted the hairs, it really was quite easy. All I can say is I am very pleased with it, it's well worth the money and after my holidays I'll be back for another one.

Excellent little vacuum. This cleaner is perfect for those who live in flats, where storage space is limited but don't want to compromise on performance.

I bought the Electrolux Stair and Carvac vacuum cleaner two weeks ago. My job is in product support for an electric appliance manufacturer and this makes me very picky when it comes to choosing small electrical appliances for my own use in the home. I read through the reviews on Amazon before deciding to buy this product. When the package arrived I was surprised how light it was. I opened the box and removed the cleaner. I took a quick look around it then plugged and used it on the stair carpet. Amazing. So light and easy to use. It made easy work of picking up hidden fluff and cat hair from the carpet. You can see exactly how much has been picked up because the collecting cup is transparent. This makes it easy to know when the cleaner needs to be emptied. A quick click on the switch and the collecting cup is removed and the filter is released. It is very easy to empty the dust into the bin and the collecting cup fits back on with a satisfying click.
The product is very well balanced. This has to be a first amongst handheld vacuum cleaners. It has a durable body and the flex winds up neatly onto the back when you want to put it away. Be warned that using this product is addictive and so you will want to keep it handy. You wont't want to put to the back of the cupboard.
I recognise good product design when I see it. This is the very best handheld vacuum cleaner that I have ever used.
My previous handheld vacuum cleaners were not up to the job and so have now been consigned to the charity shop.

Product has developed a fault
I phoned Electrolux and they told me to take it to a local service centre for repair.
A 'small soldering job' would probably fix it
So as I am more than capable of diagnosing and repairing small appliances I took a look inside.
The brush roll motor is not running. A closer look at the small PCB on the rear of this motor
revealed a crack in the soldering. A quick touch of the soldering iron, a little bit more solder
and all is well. The product label proudly states 'Made in PRC' ; I say 'Repaired in Solihull, West Midlands'

I purchased my Electrolux vacuum because I wanted a mini vacuum to do the stairs. Although perfectly happy with my big old Dyson for general room cleaning, it's heavy & not good at stairs. (It's nearly fallen on me when doing stairs "from above" & if it's left at the bottom, it fights me as I'm trying to stretch up to do the top steps.)
I read a lot of reviews before choosing the Electolux & I'm really pleased I settled on it. It has the most amazing suction which gets the job done in half the time. It IS a little noisy, but being a hand held, that might just be because you have it closer to your ears!! It's also not the lightest hand held, but it doesn't matter if the job gets done before your wrists get tired. It's very easy to operate & seems compact & sturdy (although I haven't dropped it yet, so only time will tell). You should empty the dust out after each use but it's an easy job, although after tipping out the bulk, I recommend using a rubber glove to "stroke" away the fine dust, rather then bashing the chamber in the bin, as that just sends dust back into the air. The rubber glove takes the dust off a treat without undue mess.
Any little bits that the vacuum can't reach in the crevice of the steps, are easily picked up by the integral hose, which also has an amazing suck & an extra crevice tool hidden in the base.
My only reservation is the cord storage. It wraps around the end of the vacuum but it's a shame that there isn't anything to stop it unravelling.

This machine does what it says it will. Big suction. It is a trifle heavy and it fills up fairly quickly. But you do not use it to clean the whole house: just the stairs and the car interior.

I bought this from Amazon, it arrived today and I went straight out to vac my two cars and caravan. After two hour's intensive use, here's my review.

Good bits:
Small and light, very portable.
Remarkably powerful for its size, both when using the rotating brush and the hose.
Cleans short-pile car mats and caravan carpet very well (but see below).
Tiny crevice tool gets down the side of the seats in my small sports car where a standard vac tool won't.
Handy on-vac storage for crevice tool (I'll probably still mislay it, but at least it's bright orange so there's a chance I might spot it!)
Long mains cable.

Shortcomings (pretty much as expected on a vac of this size):
Crevice tool could do with being a few inches longer, to get fully into those awkward corners.
Flexi-pipe is rather short, meaning I found myself having to hold the vac in one hand and use the crevice tool with the other instead of putting the vac on the floor and having a hand spare for things like lifting cushions.

Bad bits:
Very noisy - high pitched whine from the motor, particularly bad in an enclosed space like a car (slightly more tolerable if the windows are opened wide).
Takes a very hard push to move it forwards when vaccing a (short pile) carpet with the rotating brush. I found myself making a backward sweep, then lifting it to move it forward, then putting it down for another backward sweep. This makes it very hard work on a larger area of carpet, like a caravan - it'll be ideal for occasional/emergency use on site but I'll stick with the full sized vac when cleaning the van at home.

Summary:
Excellent for cars, ideal for occasional/on-site use in the caravan. Recommended.

This is a good product with some really good features such as a long lead, on board storage of extension bits and really neat way the hose is put away. Drawback is just how heavy this is. For an elderly person or someone with mobility issues - this isn't the right product. The other thing is the dirt quickly sticks fast to the filter thing inside and is virtually impossible to pull off. I guess this will affect suction after several uses.

Yes, every morning she was there on the stair, right there. With her little stiff brush and metal dustpan, briskly brushing and collecting, grunting as she came down each step. Now this electric dustpan and brush, sixty years later, does the job in no time. My new best friend in a house with six flights of stairs many with wonky angles and dust traps. Some of the 'risers' had never been vacuumed I fear as Mr Dyson clearly lives in a bungalow, when you try to use his stiff awkwardly made connections they get knocked off all the time. Grr!

This machine sounds like a loud hair dryer and does leave your ears ringing a bit after a monster session so that's why only 4 stars. It also gets quite hot which I know my grandmother did too...

However I think it is as good as you might hope to get and will inspire far more frequent stair and car cleaning. The long orange lead, robust shockproof plug and crevice attachment are bright and visible. The flip up plastic rizor (sic) arrangement means you can vacuum the riser from the same hand held direct facing position. Emptying it is best done outside after having licked a finger to find which way the wind is blowing. Give the filter a good whack about to dislodge the fur and clingy dust and then snap on the box once more. You'll be ready for the off to sort out the Volcano ash particles when they arrive!

I bought this for use in my caravan and it is excellent. Picks up dog hairs a treat and reaches into those parts a wider one won't reach. Having brought it home for the winter I have been using it on the stair carpet and it is great. I have a Dyson Animal which is an absolute pain to use on the stairs, the attachment for the stairs is awful - Although it works well on the 'flat'. The Electrolux is not an 'over designed' and 'over priced' piece of kit. It just works, WELL!! Oh, I forgot, it's equally good in the car and has a good long cable.
