3.0 out of 5 stars great price, but no large cuff and a little inaccurate
When it arrived i regretted not having bought the large cuff to go with this product. The one that comes with this is small going up to only 32cm, so measure your arm and decide if you need a large cuff first... As for the product itself, it is simplicity to use and gives clear quick results. Unfortunately I took it to my blood pressure reading with the nurse today and...

My doc suggested I get myself a blood pressure monitor as I have recently been diagnosed with said issue. The Omron MX2 has been clinically validated and therefore recommended by the British Hypertension Society.

Inside the box is the main unit, cuff, supplied batteries and instruction manual. The instruction manual explains how to use very well and is not too detailed, just right I feel.

Pop in the supplied batteries, connect the cuff to the main unit and you're ready to go. The cuff is a good size and should fit the majority of arms. The main unit comprises two buttons - power and start. Pressing the start button instigates the cuff tightening, the unit begins its measurement and when finished will display the systolic and diastolic reading along with the pulse rate.

It really is very straightforward and simple to use. Its Omron's basic model and does the job perfectly, this price here is a bargain.

As for the product itself, it is simplicity to use and gives clear quick results. Unfortunately I took it to my blood pressure reading with the nurse today and it seems to be inaccurate it is about 10 out on both readings, it did appear to be accurate at first but appears to have lost its calibration a little.

This machine is easy use, easy to understand provided you follow the instructions.

It is comfortable when in use, just a slight 'Squeezing' sensation.

If you are doing this unaided, be sure to give yourself time to settle down for a few minutes after securing the band round the upper arm and connecting the tube to the machine, working one handed is more active than you might imagine and if the machine is activated too soon you will see a higher reading than is the case when at rest.

Great value for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality basic device, 3 Jun 2009

Very easy to use by one person. You slip your upper arm through the wide armband which is then secured using the velcro flap. The device inflates and deflates the armband automatically as part of its blood pressure reading process. At the end, the blood pressure and pulse are displayed in large characters. It comes with clear instructions. The device gives readings that are quite close to the readings obtained in my doctor's office, so I believe it is fairly accurate.
I found the standard armband big enough to fit each of the family - female size 12-14; Male(s) 6' 1, 83/85 Kilo (13 Stone).
I am happy with the product and wouldn't have any reason to change it for another of this type.

If you want to simply take your/someone's blood pressure reading and record in a diary, this is the perfect tool.

There are other expensive machines out there which do a little more than this for example they save the readings in memory, but they're not for me. I wanted something reasonably priced which gives me fairly accurate readings. The Omron MX2 does exactly that and for a very cheap price.

It does however have a minor problem with it which buyers shuold be aware of. Sometimes it gives an error while reading the blood pressure, even when you are following the instructions in the user guide. Doing it again in the same way will give you a reading. This is the only issue I have with this product.

All in all, very good product, 4/5 from me. I would recommend this!

Having had a heart attack earlier in February and a car crash in May my blood pressure went very high. My doctor was concerned and I suggested I get myself a heart rate monitor.
The doctor thought it was a very good idea and I purchased the Omron MX2
I found it easy to use and would highly reccommend it to anyone.

We use a similar model of sphygmomanometer as standard at my surgery (by the same manufacturer). Ours have the advantage of being calibrated on a regular basis to ensure accuracy, but this is a very easy to use and reliable model for home use. Patients who use it find that their home readings correlate well with those taken at the surgery by myself or a nurse.

I'd recommend this to anyone taking more of an interest in their own health, and especially those who suffer from 'white-coat hypertesnsion', where your home readings will be far more accurate and valid than those taken by professionals, and therefore a much better guide to your health.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value, 14 Sep 2009

I bought one of these as I was curious as to what my blood pressure was, having never had it taken before. I found out that I had low blood pressure, which is not detrimental to myself in any way, just that it is low. (I checked with my doctor who then checked my BP which was the same reading, and apparantly its good to have a low BP) It does not make me dizzy or anything, but it was quite interesting to find that out. I let other people try it out in my family and friends and they read closely with doctor's readings so I believe it to be quite accurate. It's a good price as well, and invaluable to check and monitor BP.
If your interested in a little independant healthcare that's simple to use, or if, like me you are curious then I recommend buying this.

High blood pressure is sometimes described as a hidden killer, as we are not aware it is a problem until a heart attack or stoke hits. Having a convenient monitor that lets you know your basic health is most reassuring. This version was extremely good value and works really well. Buy one now!

This blood pressure monitor was delivered promptly and at a very competitive price. I checked it with results taken by my doctor and they were virtually the same. It is a worthwhile purchase to keep a reliable check on my blood pressure and heart rate.
