5.0 out of 5 stars Wallis and Edward.
This Biography is interesting, and in depth about Wallis and Edward's life after they
married. It talks about their life in the Bahamas, a place which Wallis intensely disliked.
It is also mentioned about Edward's possible collaboration with the Nazis.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wallis and Edward., 30 Dec 2009

This review is from: Whatever happened to the Windsors [DVD] (DVD)
This Biography is interesting, and in depth about Wallis and Edward's life after they
married. It talks about their life in the Bahamas, a place which Wallis intensely disliked.
It is also mentioned about Edward's possible collaboration with the Nazis.
Our current Prince Edward unearths some interesting letters and papers locked up at
Windsor Castle, relating to the time of the Abdication and afterwards.
The cameras are allowed inside their Paris Home,"The Mill", Their Butler giving his own
reminiscences about the way they lived and entertained there. I recommend this to all
with an interest in Edward and Wallis.

Brought this for my parents who love historical drama but after watching and really enjoying the Simpsons they were very disappointed with this so called follow on turned it off half way through said didn't really tell them anything that hadn't already been well publicised in the past and was rather boring. Said they would try to watch it again one afternoon when there was nothing else worth watching on the TV but in their opinion a waste of money and total let down compared to the Simpsons which was brilliant.

5.0 out of 5 stars simply extraordinary!, 23 Nov 2011
This review is from: Whatever happened to the Windsors [DVD] (DVD)
first when i got to know about this documentary, i somehow feared it would only be a vehicle for the prince edward and a kind of "cleaning" of his family- history.
but after seeing the film, i can only recommend it.
it's a very thoughtful retrospect, an earnest effort to give a balanced portrait of two rather ordinary people in a extraordinary situation.

the only thing i miss at the moment is the question of the relationship between the duchess an her second husband. after reading the bio "that woman", i thought prince edward would at least mention the long- lasting bond between the former couple. in my opinion, the relationship to the king- to- be for wallis had only meant to be an affair. she did not calculate, that the prince of wales would fall so much for her that he'd give up all he had to be with her.
and in the end she found herself with a lost husband she still adored and an actual husband she wasn't that much into as everyone expected her to be.

(that the duke of windsor considered german to bis his Muttersprache/ mothertongue was most interesting for me as a german ... ;-) )

but that's almost off topic.

concerning this documentary - i can really recommend it to everyone who has an interest in these two. and i also do appreciate that prince edward stays aside, to give free sight onto his grand- uncle and his wife.
