5.0 out of 5 stars Saraband For Dead Lovers
The subdued technicolor is perfect for setting the mood of this excellent film. Very British in production, It's almost as if it was deliberately aimed at being as un-Hollywood as possible. There is no fantasy or glamour here, instead an energy and realism that's rather startling in a film of this age. Acting is of the high standard you would expect from the cast. Joan...

2.0 out of 5 stars Dead boring
In his biography "Sparks fly upwards" Mr Grainger states that "Saraband for dead lovers" was one film he was glad he made, how I disagree with that comment, as a lifelong fan of Stewart Grainger I would say it was his worst.

He was my favourite actor when I was a teenager and I wanted to see this film again because it has been a long time since I saw it originally

This was purchased from the cut price DVD listings. It is an OK film watchable on a rainy Saturday afternoon if nothing else to do. Now that I have watched it, I am not sure I will do so again for some months. I think it was only £5.
