I bought this for my newborn baby who cannot settle without being held - the swing has been a total godsend. I discovered my 5 week old doesn't like vibration (after I spent money on a vibrating cot!) so struggled with what type of bouncer/swing to get. He likes to be on the move and seems to fall asleep when his gran swings him side to side so we thought this swing my help get him sleeping - and it does! My husband thought this was going to be a waste of good money as it is quite expensive compared to some of the bouncers out there but we both agree that it has been so useful - at last I can have dinner without having to eat it with one hand as we can put him down and let the swing lull him to sleep - I can even leave him in it to get a quick shower. Sometimes when he isn't sleepy he does get bored with it but it does keep him occupied for a short period of time which is still better than nothing!

The pendulum motion of the seat is slightly noisy but you soon get used to it. Also, my 5 week old isn't yet interested in the mobile, I actually think it scares him a bit, but that can be folded out of the way and the swinging action rocks him off to sleep happily. We have used this every day since we got it and are so glad we did- I would definitely recommend this to anyone especially those with a newborn.

UPDATE: Our son is now nearly 7 months old and we are still using this swing on a daily basis, several times a day (we have it in front of the tv), and the batteries have yet to be changed! Fantastic!

I bought the fisher price rainforest swing for my son when he was just 5 weeks old and he loved it from the first time he went in it. he will stare for ages at the mobile and often falls asleep in it. i love the fact that when he's a bit older, I can turn the seat from the 'cradle' position (for younger babies) to the 'swing' position. The music has 4 different settings. one for when baby is sleepy with calm soft music. one for when baby is active with nursery rhymes plus 2 others - one rainforest sounds and the other is like pan pipes and water. The music and mobile will switch off automatically after 7 minutes and there is a reset button to start it up again. I have had this swing for over 2 months now and haven't had to replace the batteries once, yet my son goes in it every day. It's great for when i'm trying to get on with the house work as he is kept occupied and i know he is safe and securely strapped in.

have just bought this product delivery within a few days, we have a 7week old baby, and this has helped us out so much the swing actually keeps him calm and soon enough he falls to sleep. While we can do other things around the house. Well worth the money, this is quite big however it does what it says on the box.

I love this swing, it is a such a success!!! My baby is 3 months old and she takes her daily naps on the swing. It saved me from having to carry her around to put her to sleep. I actually have time now for some housework, to cook or make a few phone calls... She is very comfortable in it though I feel like she gets a bit dizzy looking at the moving toys above so I move them up :-) she only refuses to sit on it if she is really grumpy otherwise it really works. Batteries are still going on after a month's use with no sign of running out. I would highly recommend this swing to anyone who needs help putting their babies to sleep or have some time off from carrying them around...

I am a mum of 3 and only bought one of these for my last baby and OMG why did I not buy one sooner I don't know??!!!...well I do actually...I didn't buy one because I thought it was a lot of money to spend and a bouncer would surfice! If only I knew! When my 3rd baby was born, my son was only 11mths, and so I really had my hands full, so when I saw one reduced I bought it. My 11mth old was not too happy about having another baby in the house so it wasn't very safe to leave her on her playmat if I had to leave the room even for a second, which is another reason it was so great having the swing. I have used it to feed her in, rock her to sleep in and she loves sitting in it and playing with toys when i'm busy with the housework - it's like having an extra pair of hands around the house. It does get through batteries like they're going out of fashion and so I would recommend getting one of those battery chargers and you will save yourself a fortune (but even if you run out of batteries late at night and have no spares swinging it yourself does the trick too LOL). It does take up a fair amount of room...but believe me it's worth it - you can fold it in half but still to this day I have never put it away! It still can send my baby to sleep extremely quickly. The colours are bright, the mobile catches baby's attention and the music is not annoying at all! I will now stop waffling!

My five week old baby was unable to sleep at all during the day and very little at night. This swing is a total lifesaver. The rocking settles him to sleep really well and soothes him back to sleep when he startles himself awake. We have only had it a short time but it has totally transformed him and he is now a much happier baby. Although it is expensive, it is well worth the money.

We bought one of these for our wee baby girl and she really loves it. In basic mode it seems to be a decent place to sleep with a very good harness to stop her moving around. The chair has 2 angles and can be twisted round so swings side to side or front to back. The front to back direction has the seat at a slightly more sat-up angle. The mobile does what you'd expect and the sounds are pretty basic so I'd be looking for an external music source (like a stereo!)

The auto-swinger has 6 speed settings, depending on baby's weight, with the lowest more than ok for us so far (8 ish lbs). Don't know how quickly it gets through batteries yet, will update when it runs out. Without power it will swing quite happily with only the occasional push - say once per minute.

So far she goes to sleep within minutes of being put in, so its a bit early to say whether it will hold her interest or keep her entertained. Does help with the old sleep overdraft though!

Improvements? Would have liked the seat to have gone flatter (bit worried about baby getting a flat head. All in all though still think it's worth at least 4.5 stars.

Saw 2 more expensive models on Amazon, but really don't see the point. The only differences seem to be a toy bar on the tray, different sounds and a pouch on the back. Not exactly worth the extra wonga but would have been nice.

I recently purchased the Fisher-Price Open-Top Cradle Swing for our daughter for the times she is awake and so she can get some cat naps during the day.

I looked on the web and the reviews were excellent. (mostly US Reviews).

I was a little disappointed when I got it to see there was no ac adapter in it.

All the review sites had this as one of the best features to save on changing batteries.

It seems though that the US model has a AC adaptor but the UK/Ireland one hasnt.

Has anyone one with a PSU or is it just simply not available. If yes did it come with it and is there a voltage / current spec on it.

Its typical situation. We pay more and get less. (I saw it on Walmart site for $80 and a rebate) thats about stg£40.
