Jake Roberts vs. Big Daddy Ritter from Stampede Wrestling in 1979 for the North American title - 7/10 descent way to start the DVD off

Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels from 1992 - an amazing match, set the stage for ladder matches in the future 9/10

Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon: 1995 SummerSlam - 8.5/10

HHH vs. Rock: 1998 SummerSlam match - Highlight of both mens career 10/10

New Brood (Hardy Boyz) vs. Edge & Christian: 1999 No Mercy - This was the match that put both teams on the map that would eventually plant the seeds for the future series of ladder/TLC matches. Since this was the first tag team ladder match, it was non-stop action & never a dull moment. 10/10

Edge & Christian vs. Dudleys vs. Hardy's: 2000 Summer Slam TLC match - this is one of those matches that I can't describe in words that you just have to watch. 11/10

Shannon Moore & Shane Helms vs. Jamie Noble & Evan Karagis vs. Kaz Hayashi & Jimmy Yang: WCW 2000 - It wasn't as crazy as the TLC matches in WWE but these guys put on one hell of a performance. 10/10

Chris Benoit vs. Chris Jericho: 2001 Royal Rumble - this match is HARDCORE to say the least a classic 11/10

Hardy's vs. Dudleys vs. Edge & Christian: WrestleMania 17 - One of the greatest matches on this DVD, 100/10

Jericho & Benoit vs. Hardy's vs. Dudleys vs. Edge & Christian: Smackdown 2001 - Another amazing match that does eventually lead to Benoits broken neck

Edge vs. Christian: 2001 No Mercy - very good performance by both men 8/10

RVD vs. Eddie Guerrero: Raw 2002 - was without a doubt one of the best matches on WWE TV for that year. 10/10

(Also available on Eddie Guerrero's DVD)

Undertaker vs. Jeff Hardy: Raw 2002 - Jeff Hardy does his greatest performance in this match, a great deal of respect. My favourite wwe moment ever (jeff hardy wins undertakers respect)

Kane vs. RVD & Jeff Hardy vs. Bubba & Spike Dudley vs. Jericho & Christian: Raw 2002 - High spots all over the place along with high impact moves to the point to where Bubba Ray suffered such a concussion that he doesn't remember the match to this day. 11/10

Chris Jericho vs. Christian: Unforgiven 2004 - amazing performance 10/10

Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Edge vs. Christian vs. Kane: WrestleMania 21 - to quote Joey Styles "OH MY GOD!" BEST MONEY IN THE BANK MATCH! 11/10

Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero: Summerslam 2005 - It was a great ladder match Lots of interference from Vicki Guerrero & Dominic himself but it didn't ruin the match itself. 9/10

Matt Hardy vs. Edge: Loser leaves town from Raw 2005 - great match ots of hype. 10/10

Ric Flair vs. Edge: TLC match 2006 Raw - amazing that flair still walks after this one 10/10

John Cena vs. Edge: TLC match 2006 Unforgiven - both men brought their A game & resulted in a great main event, amazing ending. 12/10

Jeff Hardy vs. Johnny Nitro: 2006 Raw - This was just another match in their great series of matches, absolutely brilliant, Nitro holds his own. 9/10

London & Kendrick vs. Regal & Taylor vs. MNM vs. Hardy's: Armageddon 2006 - probably one of the best matches ever, EXTREME. 15/10

I give this DVD a 100000000/10 and if you dont buy it then you are completely stupid

The WWE's compilation DVDs have remained of fantastic quality no matter how much the quality of the modern product has suffered in the last 5 years. This latest set includes some of the most spectacular ladder matches that have ever been seen. Rather than featuring a documentary with bonus matches like some of their DVDs, this set thankfully keeps to the matches themselves, although most matches have some footage of the build-up to them or even a brief interview with one of the participants (eg Edge or HBK) which is quite useful. Unfortunately the matches are introduced by the ever-annoying Todd Grisham.

The matches are listed in another review and there are a number of classics on there. The evolution of the ladder match is clear to see from the comparatively tame (but still great) 1992 match between HBK and Bret Hart into the TLC spotfests which are truly awesome to watch. TLC has now evolved again into Money In The Bank which has become a new Wrestlemania tradition and is something to look forward to each year. This collection covers all of that.

The match selection is almost flawless but there are a few matches which should have been on there. The WM10 match between HBK and Razor Ramon is mentioned on the DVD as the best ladder match ever and then not featured, instead they show their Summerslam rematch. I can sort of understand this, because the WM match is on the HBK collection but some people won't have seen this. I would have also picked the Royal Rumble 2000 triangle ladder match between the Hardyz, Dudleys and E&C over their 2nd TLC match (which was essentially a repeat of the first TLC). It would have been cool to see an ECW ladder match to see how they used to do them, but instead we just get one WCW match.

Overall though I can't see anyone being disappointed by this set and it is essential viewing for any wrestling fan. I would suggest checking the price on amazon.com rather than amazon.co.uk because my set cost me less than half what it is going for on here.

It's amazing how a simple concept for a match (climb up a ladder & grab the belt) has spawn so many memorable moments in the history of professional wrestling and WWE picked out a wonderful collection of matches here to illistrate how the ladder match has spawn off so many memorable to classic moments in wrestling & was also the catalist for so many versions of this match including TLC, Stairway To Hell in ECW, and King Of The Mountain in TNA.

Jake Roberts vs. Big Daddy Ritter (Junkyard Dog) from Stampede Wrestling in 1979 for the North American title - This was joined in progress and it was using a one sided ladder with the referees holding it steady while the wrestlers climbed up. Nothing special past the historical factor.

Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels from 1992 - I think this is the one for the I.C. Belt & for this being so innovated in WWE at the time, it's something to see.

Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon: 1995 SummerSlam - I'm glad they put this one on here instead of their WrestleMania X one since most people forgot about it. This one won't disappoint and if you want an idea of how comical WWF was back in '95, watch the HBK intro when they have a guy trying to sell you his merchandise at ringside (ala Home Shopping Network).

HHH vs. Rock: 1998 SummerSlam match - Eventhough Undertaker/Austin was the main event, this was the match that stole the show. HHH was selling a knee injury that he got earlier in the night while the Rock was just ruthless here. This was the highlight match of both men's career before they would go on to each win the World Title.

New Brood (Hardy Boyz) vs. Edge & Christian: 1999 No Mercy - This was the match that put both teams on the map that would eventually plant the seeds for the future series of ladder/TLC matches featuring various members. Since this was the first tag team ladder match, it was non-stop action & never a dull moment.

Edge & Christian vs. Dudleys vs. Hardy's: 2000 Summer Slam TLC match - The first TLC match and this was the one that topped their WrestleMania match months earlier. Again, this is one of those matches that I can't describe in words that you just have to watch.

Shannon Moore & Shane Helms vs. Jamie Noble & Evan Karagis vs. Kaz Hayashi & Jimmy Yang: WCW 2000 - If you only know these guys from their runs in WWE then you don't know what your missing. This match happened at Starrcade at that year & honestly was the match of the night as it was the crusierweight division in WCW that was saving the WCW product at that time. It wasn't as crazy as the TLC matches in WWE but these guys put on one hell of a performance.

Chris Benoit vs. Chris Jericho: 2001 Royal Rumble - They took from brutal bumps & the chairshot delievered when Benoit went though the ropes was "hardcore" to say the least & is a classic in quality.

Hardy's vs. Dudleys vs. Edge & Christian: WrestleMania 17 - TLC II followed the same patterns as their pervious matches with the exception this time being the involvement of Lita, Rhyno, and Spike Dudley. This match has the highlight reel of Edge (off the top of the ladder) spearing Jeff Hardy (who was hanging from the belt hooks) all the way to the floor that WWE still uses in some promotional videos today.

Jericho & Benoit vs. Hardy's vs. Dudleys vs. Edge & Christian: Smackdown 2001 - This match is known as the "forgotten TLC" for various reasons such as Edge not acknowling this match when he kept saying "I never lost a TLC match." Jericho & Benoit pulled off some spots not seen in the previous ones such as a headbutt off the top of a ladder though a table that led to his eventual neck surgery.

Edge vs. Christian: 2001 No Mercy - This match didn't live up to the hype as it was a one on one match which meant it wasn't full of non-stop spots & it doesn't surpass the previous ladder matches on this DVD.

RVD vs. Eddie Guerrero: Raw 2002 - This match had a style of both of them using the ladder to make their normal moves more high impact and was without a doubt one of the best matches on WWE TV for that year.
(Also available on Eddie Guerrero's DVD)

Undertaker vs. Jeff Hardy: Raw 2002 - The story behind this match was Undertaker just delivering a beating to Jeff Hardy who just refused to quit & give up.

Kane vs. RVD & Jeff Hardy vs. Bubba & Spike Dudley vs. Jericho & Christian: Raw 2002 - They advertise Hurricane for this match but he wasn't in it. High spots all over the place along with high impact moves to the point to where Bubba Ray suffered such a concussion that he doesn't remember the match to this day.
(Also available on RAW: 10th Anniversary DVD)

Chris Jericho vs. Christian: Unforgiven 2004 - This surpassed Christian's earlier match with Edge as it wasn't slow or dull at some points while it wasn't a "highspots show." Very similar to the Jericho/Benoit & HHH/Rock matches earlier in that they told a good story.

Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Edge vs. Christian vs. Kane: WrestleMania 21 - I was here LIVE & to quote Joey Styles "OH MY GOD!" The showstealer here though was Shelton Benjamin as he looked like Spiderman with the majority of the moves he was pulling off involving the ladders. In my opinion, the best Money In The Bank match to date. As a side note, I hope they show Kane's intro because that was something to see with the ladders on fire.

Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero: Summerslam 2005 - It was a great ladder match eventhough the storyline got stupid with the whole "Dominic is my son" thing going on (well, it did result in the "I'm Your Papi" shirt so I guess it's not all bad). Lots of interference from Vicki Guerrero & Dominic himself but it didn't ruin the match itself.

Matt Hardy vs. Edge: Loser leaves town from Raw 2005 - This doesn't live up to the previous ladder matches these two have had but it was still good.

Ric Flair vs. Edge: TLC match 2006 Raw - This match was more about "how can Flair take this punishment as his age" than anything else.

John Cena vs. Edge: TLC match 2006 Unforgiven - Cena was of course booed out the building due to the fact they were in Edge's hometown but that's when Cena is at his best (remember One Night Stand). Again, both men brought their A game & resulted in a great main event.

Jeff Hardy vs. Johnny Nitro: 2006 Raw - This was the match for me that put Nitro on the map as a "superstar of the future" as he was able to hold his own & surpass the previous RAW ladder matches with the ladder match veteran in Jeff Hardy. This was just another match in their great series of matches.

London & Kendrick vs. Regal & Taylor vs. MNM vs. Hardy's: Armageddon 2006 - We all know what the Hardys & MNM can do based on their past so mix that with the daredevil style London & Kendrick adapted along with the fact that Regal & Taylor didn't look out of place with their mat wrestling style as well. And watch out for that SICK spot where Joey Mercury's face gets crushed.

WWE didn't drop the ball like they did with the "History Of WWE Championship" set & picked out a bunch of matches available on multiple DVD sets (without counting the monthly PPV DVDs) so you know you'll be getting more than your money's worth & they do acknowledge the history of ladder matches before WrestleMania X (which they've said was the first ladder match). I highly recommend this.
