In the style of Animal House, Ivan Reitman[Ghostbusters]and Harold Ramis[Groundhog Day] introduce the world to Bill Murray in his first movie "Meatballs". Bill plays Tripper, The head councilor of Camp Northstar,a summer camp situated beside a lake. Trippers a fun guy but one thing Tripper hates is Camp Mohawk, the summer camp for the rich and tasteless across the lake, Bill along with some other councilllors spend the summer reeking havoc on camp Mohawk, and compete against them in the summer camp Olympics, with One goal, Take camp Mohawk down. Bill Murray is fresh and funny in this classic comedy. That spawned a string of movies between all involved. Caddyshack,Stripes, Ghostbusters Groundhog Day to name a few. 4/5

Love this movie! Totally brings back memories of all the summer camps I went to in northern Ontario (where it was filmed) growing up.

Film might have been ok if when it stopped buffering it didn't jump 15 minutes at a time.

Years ago I saw this in the cinema so I am looking forward to a re-visit, rarely broadcast, Bill Murray upsets establishment TV. It has hilarious scenes even if somewhat raw in content, a good comment on USA philosophy as was Dirty Dancing and we have all been there whether trampling the ATC RAF camp parade ground and throwing logs in ditches or waiting to leap into the sea from boat or aircraft to practice being rescued by Air Sea, that never happened so we can watch Murray river antics, similar to Dan and Uncle Buck in a wood cabin with a Bald Headed Bear. Part of the era of such films.

I love this film. It's great for those, like me, who never got to go to a summer camp, and its a really feel-good movie.
