4.0 out of 5 stars You pays your money...
And you make your choice.
The choice is between the Blue Underground version of this film or the Arrow version.
At first glance it seems an easy one. The Blue Underground picture is better. Not as soft and the colours are more muted. However with a slight tinkering of the contrast button on your television the difference is less obvious. Both copies have plenty...

3.0 out of 5 stars Bad picture quality, great extras
A lot of people seem to be discussing the pciture quality of the Arrow Video releases. While I was pleased with their outputs of "Inferno", "Phenomena" and "The Beyond", "City Of The Living Dead" sure is kind of a let-down. I'm not sure about the heavy grain on this transfer, but what really scares me is that this Blu-Ray has severe compression-problems. On many occasions...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great film.,
This review is from: City of the Living Dead [DVD] (DVD)One of Fulci's best finally gets the treatment it deserves. Throw away your Vipco copy as this has it all. Decent transfer, 5.1 sound and a tonne of extras to boot.
2.0 out of 5 stars brill sound,
This review is from: City of the Living Dead [Blu-ray] [Region Free] (Blu-ray)Fist thing to say wow the sound is brill its 7.1dts hd master all so done in 5.1 2.0 1.0 wow don't see that happen to often. now the video is so bad some times you can only just make out what your seeing this has to be the worsted pitcher i have ever seen on bluray or even vhs shocking you have to see it to be leave it. the film was very poor and boring was hoping for a good horror movie but its not but the music is brill could not recommend this film to any one just give it a miss.
5.0 out of 5 stars another fulci masterpiece,
This review is from: City Of The Living Dead [DVD] (DVD)for me this is side by side with zombie flesh eaters as fulci best films.it has all the fulci trademarks.zombies/sex/and of course gore.step up the ever reliable and brilliant special make up effects genius gino de rossi who gives us some explicit gore scenes which some people might find to much to stomach.forget the story because as with fulci films that becomes second to the weird and gory set pieces.as usual fulci does his usual cameo this time as the doctor.we have katherine macoll starring in her first of 3 films that she did for fulci and definately knows how to scream as acting skills for all the cast in this film are not really needed and of course the laughable dubbing.but despite the pros and cons this is a masterpiece of pure horror and a bizarre story.a fulci masterpiece not be missed.this vipco version is uncut but suffers from the usual poor picture and sound quality as with nearly all vipco releases.so either get the arrow version or another version from europe which has region 2 code.
4.0 out of 5 stars blue undrground putting life back into the dead,
5.0 out of 5 stars Great,
This review is from: City of the Living Dead [Blu-ray] [Region Free] (Blu-ray)Great movie not as awesome as I remember it but still a fantastic movie to add to anyones collection ;)
5.0 out of 5 stars One of Fulci's best!,
5.0 out of 5 stars "..80'S HORROR CLASSIC..",
4.0 out of 5 stars Gore and dread!,
This review is from: City of the Living Dead [DVD] (DVD)Of course City of the Living Dead is an essential purchase for the horror fan.
Though the movie takes a little while to get going, the sense of dread and despair are there from the beginning of the film and the characters are built up well.
This offering from Arrow is stunning and of course uncut. Having watched this movie umpteen times in the 80's cut it was a real pleasure to watch all of the scenes intact. Some nasty moments here.
A much darker zombie movie than most of it's competitors simply make the movie that more realistic.
5.0 out of 5 stars Zombies in Dunwich,
This review is from: City Of The Living Dead [DVD] (DVD)Fulci,s back, and this time there is nothing stopping him, this film is dripping with occult zombies undead priests and lots of the old red stuff. I mean come on who doesn't want to see the angry father of a teenage girl drilling a teenage perverts head in with a bench drill? Aside from all the gore this film has a good horror aura about it,similar I guess to House By the Cemetery The Blind Dead and of course Zombie Flesh Eaters. Enjoy
5.0 out of 5 stars Great release,
This review is from: City of the Living Dead [DVD] (DVD)One of infamous Video Nasties hits, with many memorable death scenes, finally got decent release, once again via Arrow. Standards are kept - booklet, large poster, few postcards from various movie releases. Extras include interview with always lovely Catriona MacColl, Giovanni Lombardo Radice (here meeting his demise with drill through head...) and few memories from Fulci's friends, co-workers and his daughter. Great, atmospheric movie, with memorable music from Fabio Frizzi. Fans of logical sequences of action and CGI effects - skip this one. This is vintage 80's gorefest, with few winks towards HP Lovecraft fans.
