5.0 out of 5 stars Best Product with Excelllent Value for Money!
This is a fantastic bit of software. I am a serious Office user (Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint, Word mainly) and would consider myself an advanced user for many years.

The new ribbon interface is easy to pick up and is actually fairly intuitive. Most of the old keyboard shortcuts still work, which helps, but I tend not to use them as everything can be found very...

Okay, so just supposing you approve of the useless ribbon, that removes the main advantage of a GUI (that of discoverablity) so it takes hours to find the rarely used features, i.e. Split table. The fact that the print preview is now much harder to find and al the other usability issues (NOTE: Usability is subjective, an option to retain the old menu would have been...

This review is from: Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise Edition (PC)(English) (DVD-ROM)
This is a fantastic bit of software. I am a serious Office user (Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint, Word mainly) and would consider myself an advanced user for many years.

The new ribbon interface is easy to pick up and is actually fairly intuitive. Most of the old keyboard shortcuts still work, which helps, but I tend not to use them as everything can be found very quickly. I also find the ribbon doesn't take up that much space as I have always found that I end up with a few layers of toolbars in Office 2003 anyway.

The additional functionality in excel and powerpoint really stand out for me. In the former the considerably increased row and column chart are helpful, as is the way the formula are handled and can be found. The formatting of charts and other objects can result in VERY professional loooking documents, which is the main benefit in powerpoint. Some of the textual effects, such as perspective, reflections etc are fantastic. They can even be applied to objects such as pictures or smart shapes.

There is so much more control over what is displayed. This is a practically perfect productivity suite. It simply makes all others look incredibly basic.

But best of all; IT IS EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY!!! You get all the programs in Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 AND MORE for a MUCH CHEAPER price!!!!!

Brilliant!!!

If you are looking for software this is the baby to buy, this has everything that you will ever need, you will never need to look any further, simple to download and quick, Definately would buy another, this product can load upto six computers, so it is great, do look and check with the supplier first though on how many computers you can load as some will only load the once. Brilliant product.

Okay, so just supposing you approve of the useless ribbon, that removes the main advantage of a GUI (that of discoverablity) so it takes hours to find the rarely used features, i.e. Split table. The fact that the print preview is now much harder to find and al the other usability issues (NOTE: Usability is subjective, an option to retain the old menu would have been advisable). Still the ribbon has pretty icons to please the redmond sheep).

The software is flakier than ever. Okay, so Word has allways had a problem with large documents but a document created on one version of word (2003) should open with out a problem in a later one (2007). My very large document (>500 pages), a test plan requiring outline/legal numbering, was corrupted by Word 2007 which promoted body text to the top level (doubling the size of the document when the table of contents was generated).

If it wasn't for the fact that MSO is a requirement in most businesses we would have droped it in favour of Star/Open Office a long time ago (mind you that's getting the ribbon next too).
