5.0 out of 5 stars Another dose of high energy fun.
Thankfully, this third series proves that Hustle is still one of the coolest and most entertaining shows the BBC has produced in a long time.

The stories are the usual high tempo stuff with an ending which comes as genuinely surprising. The characters are all as likeable as ever. Even when you wrestle with the ethics of the fact they are committing crimes...

3.0 out of 5 stars Still essential viewing, but a noticeable dip in quality
Hustle is without a doubt one of the greatest television series to be put onto DVD, and for that reason it is worth investing in the third series of this brilliant drama. Series One and Two were both 5-star classics, with intricate plots, ingenious scripts and superb acting. The acting continues to be first-class but what is unfortunate is the lack of inspiration the...

Thankfully, this third series proves that Hustle is still one of the coolest and most entertaining shows the BBC has produced in a long time.

The stories are the usual high tempo stuff with an ending which comes as genuinely surprising. The characters are all as likeable as ever. Even when you wrestle with the ethics of the fact they are committing crimes (however they try and justify it) you always want them to succeed. There is plenty of humour throughout the series which is very well written and never feels forced.

If you enjoyed the first two series then this is a must buy.

Hustle is one of those TV dramas which the BBC seems to excel at. Slick, stylish, and witty.

If you like to watch something which is funny, yet intelligent, then this could be the DVD for you.

The interplay between the main characters is very much based around friendly rivalry as they try to make ore on a hustle than the others.

They are con-artists, but they have a strict moral code. They are a bit like a modern day Robin Hood, but they don't necessarily give it to the poor!

Highlights in this series for me were episodes 1 (where Mickey and Danny are dropped off naked in the middle of the city), Episode 3 (the bank job) and Episode 6 with its fantastically funny ending! The other episodes weren't weak either, this was a great series.

Who thought conmen could be so glamourous!

Amazing series just gets better with more and more famous people such as Richard Chamberlain and Mel Smith. The cons for a change dont always go as planned especially when one is dropped off in London with no clothes on. The scams just get better and better and Jaime Murray is as gorgeous as ever. Really great that the whole cast looks as though they are enjoying themselves and take equal part in all the episodes. I watched the first 3 back to back which were brilliant 'who needs the Ocean series when you have far classier tv series like this.

Absolutely brilliant. Its usually very hard for a sequel on TV to match the original but this is the 3rd one and it just gets better and better. The cons are more elaborate, and the celebrity guests just keep coming in, a clear indication of what people think about it. Jamie Murray is as georgous as ever (for the lads) and Robert Vaughan continues his absoulutely awesome performances. BUY IT NOW!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality UK Drama...at last, 26 Jan 2007
This review is from: Hustle : Complete BBC Series 3 [DVD] [2007] (DVD)
Hustle is an excellent UK drama and about time...We seem to have been playing catch up with the US for far too long, then Hustle appears...sumptuous filmic quality, classy, top notch cast, and creative, original scripts.

Okay, the season finale of season 3 wasn't up to the finales of the previous two seasons, but a slightly off par episode of Hustle is still far better viewing than most of the BBC's output or indeed, that of the others channels. The stop camera sequences aren't as prominent here in season 3, presumably because the producers didn't want it to become overused or gimmicky - no chance :)

Highly recommended, but if you are new to the show, then my advice is to go with seasons 1 and 2 first to lay the character groundwork.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 25 Feb 2007

Ive been hooked on Hustle since watching the very last episode in series 1 on TV. I then brought series 1 and 2 on DVD and ive been waiting for series 3 to arrive on DVD which seemed to take forever because i have all 6 episodes on my sky box which was screened in March/April 2006. I cant wait for the 4th series to be screened soon on BBC. Hustle really kicks the bad guys who have alot of money where it hurts and even cons the bank which is one of my best episodes. The way they make you think they have been busted only to have a back up plan which the viewers dont get to see till the end is just fantastic. Excellent television for all types of people. Would recommend it to anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Is it slipping?, 29 Oct 2007

This review is from: Hustle : Complete BBC Series 3 [DVD] [2007] (DVD)
Hustle is a fantastic series based around a group of con artists working in London. This being series three, it's not one I'd recommend starting with - while the episodes do stand alone it's nice to be aware of various pieces of backstory.

Whether this series lives up to the previous two is a question that's been thrown around a lot. The kneejerk reaction is no, it doesn't, but actually some of these episodes have really grown on me with rewatching. There's a nice variety here, from the light plot of dropping two characters naked in the middle of London to see who can make the most money in a day to an intricate scheme involving shares and inside dealing. This does mean that there's an episode of Hustle to suit quite a variety of moods.

It's compulsory to apply the adjective 'slick' when reviewing Hustle, and it still deserves it. The production style is unmistakable and one of the pleasures of watching the show - there are plenty of distinctive tricks in use.
The cons still have the ability to keep you guessing, but there's substance underneath. Even on the rewatch, when you know what's about to happen, the show keeps the attention.

So, while the programme has perhaps slipped a little from the early days, it's still unmistakably Hustle - clever, funny and very stylish.

5.0 out of 5 stars Robbed you wont be, 26 Aug 2008
This review is from: Hustle : Complete BBC Series 3 [DVD] [2007] (DVD)
From the makers of Spooks, and Life on Mars, Hustle is again, a cut aabove. The BBC shows it can screen some pretty impressive stuff, with the twists and turns, the focus on detail and plot development. The result - a group of characters, that by today's standards are some of the most hated people in society, and shows a 'human' side, unlike anything ever shown before, using ideas like, 'Never Cheat an Honest Man'.
The characters are well chosen, and the on-screen chemistry is over-flowing. Adrian Lester plays Michael Stones, GBH convicted leader of the group of long and short con-artists. Marc Warren (a.k.a Pvt. Blithe - 'Band of Brothers') once again, lives up to his standard, and plays convincingly, the over-eager, full-of-himself Danny Blue. Each wonderfully crafted episode will keep you guessing right up until the end. A top quality series. One thing you wont be is conned if you buy this, it will remain your most prized investment for many a year.

4.0 out of 5 stars A final outing for the entire crew, 5 Sep 2009
By
Mutt (Ankara, Turkey) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hustle : Complete BBC Series 3 [DVD] [2007] (DVD)
Jordan and co. bring the entire crew back one last time as a con gone wrong in Las Vegas has left them bankrupt and scrabbling marks, much as the creators are scrabbling for storylines, in a third highly variable season of rare highs and far to may lows that augers badly for the series future.

Lester is on top form with a by now firmly established Warren snapping at his heels whilst the usual suspect Glenister, Murray and Vaughn but there is little focus left for the dynamic but some highly variable guest appearances from Smith, Chamberlain, Carson, Kaye and Cranham in an attempt to fill the gap.

The creators' juices are clearly running low as they try to squeeze the last dregs out of the dynamic but the same old cons from previous series are played out to far lesser affect in a season that features my all time favourite episode and an all to dreary precession of mid-season flops.

It could've happened to anyone...
