This is a first rate documentary covering the history of the West Indian Regiments formed during the Napoleonic Wars to support British interest in the Caribbean and elsewhere in the world. It brings to light the life of those brave souls who fought for the British Crown and the duplicity of the British who formed an army of free Black Men, yet continued to be the biggest purchaser of slaves even after ending the transport of captives for the purpose (but not the practice) of slavery in its colonies.

This is recommended viewing of an aspect of British History that you don't often hear about!

This documentary is an eye opener.

if you have no idea just how deep the rabbit hole of british involvement in physical and mental enslavement goes then this is a must.

The history of the WIR should be on the curriculum for every school in this country not just for black children but for all. This must be a used as a lesson to us all as this documentary proves that the slave trade is still the single biggest attempt of genocide in the short history of this planet.

An easy to watch interesting DVD, as they don't teach you black history in the UK schools (well not mine). A bit of black history for me and why should we not know? I would recommend.
