4.0 out of 5 stars Competent guide to the 2006 World Cup
This blu-ray disc pretty much delivers what it promises and is a significant inprovement on the Pierce Brosnan dvd of the 2006 world cup. It was great to observe the many fantastic goals from this tournament in high definition.

All the Goals blu-ray is well organised being neatly indexed by a group by group basis. I like the way each goal is shown several times...

2.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't fully capture the spectacle
Virtually all the goals, as the title states, apart from early ones of the penalty shoot outs. Heavily distorted hospital radio standard of commentary for the group stages. Virtually no other action apart from the open play immediately preceding a penalty: that means no footage of any skills, nearly-goals or incidents including Rooney's exit or Zizou's moment of madness...

I like the way each goal is shown several times and from different camera angles. Each goal is accompanied by full commentary; admitedly some of the commentary is a little bit cheesy but at least the commentators show life and passion for the material at hand. This is in direct contrast to the listless Pierce Brosnan commentary on the alternative 2006 World Cup disc available for purchase.

Furthermore, you get a round up of each group at the conclusion of it, which shows you the group table and the qualifiers. A type of chart showing each of the teams route to the final is also illustrated at the conclusion of each round. Bonus content on this blu ray is limited but you are treated to the top 10 goals and top 10 saves of the tournament. For some reason Maxi Rodiguez's wonder strike is selected as the top goal as opposed to the sublime team goal from the Argentinians.

On the downside not all the penalty shoot out kicks are included on this blu ray disc, which is disappointing. Additionally, no further content beyond the goals is shown from the matches, even the infamous Zidane headbutt is omitted.

However, this is the best disc available that covers this tournament so I would readily recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Show all goals but not all penalty shots after OT, 25 Sep 2006
The film shows all of the goals of the World Cup 2006 held in Germany. The film show the goals within a game of each group. One minus point - it does not show all of the penalty shots after overtime. It shows circa 3 or 4 including important miasses and the final shot. The index shows Groups a-c; d-f; G-H; 1/4 finals; semi-finals; and Final. There are extras - the best 10 goals and the best 10 saves. My only complaint is that they didn't show ALL of the goals - those of the deciding penalty shots. I highly recommend the DVD which is much better than "All the Goals" issued in Germany by the ARD. There they have all the goals BY nation not by game!

4.0 out of 5 stars Every goal from Germany 2006 is here., 9 Oct 2008

Other reviewers have, rightly, pointed out this dvd`s many faults, but at least it shows all the goals from the 2006 World Cup, and that`s really all it promised. The footage is good quality, shown from the `normal` tv type viewpoint (I hate those films that keep switching to a worm`s eye view) and it is well laid out. (Any fellow football fan who has bought "Euro 2000, All The Goals," will know EXACTLY what I mean...) As a basic record of Germany 2006 it does the business.

Virtually no other action apart from the open play immediately preceding a penalty: that means no footage of any skills, nearly-goals or incidents including Rooney's exit or Zizou's moment of madness. Annoying decision of the producers to show the full-time score at the BEGINNING of each game excerpt. Add feeble graphics and Bontempi music and this all amounts to a rather modest package.

This review is from: FIFA World Cup - All The Goals Of Germany 2006 [HD DVD] (HD DVD)
I got this and played it via the xbox360 HiDef player through my HD projector and it was STUNNING!.

The content is very good and it does capture the mood of the event very well.

I now have sky hd (and I love it) if you have it and you think that's good, then you may be surprised to learn that (IMHO) the quality of the video in this HDdvd is better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating, 24 May 2013
Ok so picture and sound quality as you would expect is really good. The content is really good too but as you can guess from the title, this is about the goals of World Cup '06. Any penalty shoot out only has the misses and the winning goal, which really annoys me, and in the final one of the most talked about event, Zidane's red card, is completely dismissed. Frustrating

Football in Blu-Ray isn't perhaps the most spectacular of the high definition genres, but watching the magical strikes from Germany 2006 is an enjoyable pleasure. From Lahm's tournament opener, to Joe Cole's volley against Sweden it is a collection of impressive goals that will remind you of the fantastic tournament held in Germany.
