5.0 out of 5 stars A great follow up to Long Way Round
I bought this as soon as it came out on the strength of enjoying Long Way Round and wasn't disappointed. It follows Charley Boorman and crew on his preparation and participation of the world renowned Dakar rally and shows the struggles and high points of the most dangerous rally in the world. I was impressed by the strength of the whole team especially Simon Pavey and...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as 'Long Way Round' but still an interesting insight to Dakar
I ordered this as soon as it became available on the strength of the fantastic Long Way Round and to learn more about the mysterious Dakar race.

It follows a similar format to LWR with pre-training, on board cameras, daily diaries and some familiar support team faces. The new chaps supporting Charley provide a fresh perspective and some existing Dakar...

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth renting, not worth buying, 3 Jan 2008

What can I say - its gritty, production values arent as strong as Long Way Round or Long Way Down. They are all clearly nuts in a good way.

Not much else to say - worth renting for a winter night by the fire but wouldn't buy it (though Long Way Round and Long Way Down are worth owning!)

4.0 out of 5 stars Enough to make your muscles ache just watching it!, 15 Nov 2006
This review is from: Race To Dakar [DVD] [2006] (DVD)
Goes to show that anything is possible with pockets full of money and a famous best friend. Although it does show Charlie Boardman to be a bit of a wimp!. Your emotions run high and you may have to hold back a tear when you watch Charlie's mentor Simon complete the rally. Informative but perhaps slightly naive look at desert racing. If you enjoyed ` a long way round' you'll love this too. A great DVD even for non bike enthusiasts.

I have been waiting for Race to Dakar DVD and Book since Boorman announced his new adventure after Long Way Round. I liked LWR and I am sure I will like his new adventure at the other part of the world.
