4.0 out of 5 stars A good collection of some very varied and memorable episodes

3.0 out of 5 stars A mixed bag
Unlike the Borg Collective collection, which is excellent, this is a quite a strange mixture of episodes, but does include Harlan Ellison's 'City on the Edge on Forever', 'Yesterday's Enterprise', 'Little Green Men', Trials and Tribble-lations' and 'The Year of Hell'. Certainly good to re-visit these episodes, so well worth obtaining if you cannot afford purchasing the box...

The bredth of the episodes coming form the original series, next generation, ds9 and voyager is great however the volume of episodes offered in the set seems a little stingy.

There are actually only 3 discs of episodes here. The 4th disc only contains the Voyager finale episode 'endgame'. Whilst this is a fanatastic feature film worthy episode it is actually a borg themed episode with far less emphasis being put on the time travel aspects of the episode. Endgame is included on the Borg Collective DVD set so to also include it here seems a little like being shortchanged as most people interested in these themed boxsets (as an alternative to buying the whole star trek series') are surey likely to buy more than one of the collective sets.

The extra disc could then have been used to include episodes omitted from this boxset, like Voyager's 'Future's End' where a timeship crashes in the 1960s and Voyager ends up in 1996 trying to retrieve it. There are also some good Enterprise series time travel episodes that would have completed this set very well, meaning that the set would be the only collective to have episodes from all 5 series. Surely a fitting feature of the time travel set.

I find it hard to believe that no other episodes besides than the 3-discs-worth here (omitting the Endgame one) were voted for by the fans at all. A slightly fuller collection would have made this set far better value for money (rather than what feels more like just a teaser designed to make people want to buy the whole collection of hugely expensive complete series).

4.0 out of 5 stars Some episodes essential, some are just silly., 13 April 2010
A Kid's Review

Well, to be honest, the title of this review speaks for itself. Essential episodes are ones like Trials and Tribbleations and Endgame and Year of Hell. The best episode? Well, it's a choice between Year of Hell and Trials and Tribbleations. Trials and Tribbleations is brilliantly done, both in graphics and story line but Year of Hell is a very personal episode for the crew as it shows all of their weaknesses, their strengths and their relationships. I think it's better if you see the episodes and judge for yourself: Do I need all the episodes on this disc? Simple question, complex answer.

This collection of time travel episodes from the first four Star Trek series is mostly excellent. There are 12 episodes in all and quite a few of them are classics:

The City on the Edge of Forever from the original series is one such episode. McCoy is accidently injected with an overdose which makes him paranoid (and somewhat mad!). Subsequently he jumps through a time portal and Kirk and Spock have to follow to save him. Unfortunately McCoy will change Earth history, by saving a social worker from a car accident in the 1930's. This is a wonderful episode written by the Science Fiction author Harlan Ellison. The ending of this episode is what made the original Star Trek series such a great show.

My other favourite from this boxed set (on 4 discs) is Trials and Tribble-ations from the Deep Space 9 series 5. In this episode the crew of DS9 travel back in time 100 years and meet up the original Enterprise crew. This is very cleverly done and frequently very funny.

There are no bad episodes in the boxed set, even the Voyager episode (which I was never a big fan of) is pretty good. So if time travel is your thing then this is a good set to get.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not exactly a great collection, 12 May 2013
This review is from: Star Trek: Time Travel Fan Collective [DVD] (DVD)
Like other reviews, most of these are duplicated. Where is Voyager's Future's End? My fav episode from that series. As mentioned DS9's Past Tense also great and I forget the name of another DS9 ep where Kira goes back and finds out her mother is a collaberator.
