having purchased an iMac to replace my old Mac discovered none of my firewire cables worked anymore - this product worked straight away in connecting camera and importing to iMovie.

This cable did exactly what was required, joining an older Sony camcorder to my new MacBook Pro. Works a treat at a fraction of the cost, compared to Apple store etc. Well worth the money

I bought this cable to connect the i.LINK DV interface socket on my Sony DCR-TRV8000E Digital 8 Handycam to the firewire socket of my December 2009 Macbook Pro for transferring digital video captured on the Sony. The Macbook Pro laptop records the video using it's iMovie software. I recorded using the Sony's 16-bit audio and SP or Standard play (Short play to some) and set the iMovie software to 25 frames per second (PAL) and 4:3 Standard format to match the Sony Handycam. The Macbook recorded without any problems when set up as described. I am then able to create a good quality movie, adding my own music to the video using the iMovie editing software. The cable did the job perfectly and I'm very happy. Hope this helps somebody else with a similar Sony Digital 8 Handycam.

The cable is quite good and arrived on time. The only glitch was the photo shows a white cable but received a beige colour cable ( the description of the item shows as beige).

Does what it says on the box. I trust a brand like belkin. Solid build. Good packaging. Quick delivery. All round ok.

As others have said, this cable is excellent. Coming from Belkin you shouldn't expect anything different, though.

As far as opening the packaging goes, sensible use of scissors can avoid any skin puncturing moments, or you could just turn the package over and open the pre-perforated door to access your goodies without the need of a sharp utensil.

If you harm yourself in getting to the cable you probably shouldn't be allowed near a computer anyway.

I'm very pleased with this product. I bought it because I trust the brand name, and I have not been disappointed at all!

Brilliant service, fast delivery. I bought this product for the same reason as L. Cardy, connecting my old sony camcorder to my new macbook pro. Works perfectly, would definitely recommend this to anyone.

This product was easy to buy from the Amazon web site and although it came from a outside supplier the whole transaction was smooth and easy

I have this evening taken delivery of my Belkin Firewire 800 cable, but I'm afraid the manufacturers do not wish me to enjoy the use of it. I am sitting here having stabbed myself in the palm with one of the John Lewis kitchen knives we had as a wedding present and also having pricked my fingers no end of times trying to get the bloody cable out of the impregnable plastic box. In fact, both hands have been completely severed at the wrist because of the STUPID manner in which it is packaged, and so HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO NOW PLUG THE DAMN THING IN WITH NO HANDS !!!!

Ridiculous.

I'll be back later to report if the blasted thing works on me iMac.
