As soon as my 2 year old opened the box, she was rapt with these! She loves colouring but of course is too young to understand not to just scrawl over it all... with these mats that is no problem. They kept her entertained for at least an hour and she goes back to them again and again. I would recommend. Yes the pen is a bit small as a previous reviewer said but I do...

3.0 out of 5 stars Dora Aqua Mat - Tomy don't be so tight
I have an original aqua mat and some Thomas mini mats which I think are great and my 2 and 3 year olds love. However, Tomy have clearly gone out to save money on the Dora mini-mat as it is a lot thinner and flimsier than the other mini-mats. This means that the kids bend and fold the Dora one easily whereas the thickness of the other mats prevent this.

However, Tomy have clearly gone out to save money on the Dora mini-mat as it is a lot thinner and flimsier than the other mini-mats. Also, about 70 % of each Dora mat is already coloured in and this leaves only the characters to colour. With the Thomas mini-mat none of it was coloured in and my kids like that more.

DISAPPOINTING !

2.0 out of 5 stars Very flimsy mats, 11 Oct 2006

These Dora Aqua Draw mini mats are very sweet to look at with typical cute Dora and Boots images, however the construction of the mats themselves is unbeliavably thin and flimsy.

The child cannot just sit with the mat on their lap to colour it in, you need something like a book to rest it on. The mats also bend very easily - and you cannot get the creases out which makes them hard to lay flat and actually use. Defiantely not sturdy enough for an average 2-6 year old.

You get a very tiny water pen which runs out very quickly, we also have a regular aquadraw and my little ones use the larger pen from that instead.

3.0 out of 5 stars good overall, 12 April 2011

The doodle mats are somewhat unsupported by any cardboard so get wrinkled by the kid's pressure of hands. Otherwise it's a good passtime.

I think this toy is great fun. My 1 year old loves Dora and to see her appear on a page is like magic to her. They are durable and have been used over and over again. Great buy and reasonably priced

I purchased these for my 2.5 year old grand daughter who loves colouring in and these do the job admirably, but upon receipt of these items I was very disappointed to learn that they are not 1cm thick as they are advertised but are only a little thicker than a piece of paper. If you are a handy person then you can do as I did and glue them to a thick piece of plastic to stop them getting creased and folded therefore extending the life. Shame on Tomy/Amazon for advertising them as 17 X 1 X 27cm

Both kids have loved these mats. Youngest just 15 months, eldest 3.5 and both still play with them (Thomas ones too). Handy to slip in a bag. Youngest does tend to scrunch them a bit and although they don't rip, they do crease. Great if you can pick up one set cheap for the younger ones then you're not so bothered about trying to keep them flat.
