The Revolution will be televised,

I have waited so long for this to come out on DVD after seeing it on BBC3. This is one of the funnies and original programs I have ever seen. I can't believe that the BBC stopped it from becoming mainstream. The Program takes the form of a documentary following the antics of three ill informed revolutionaries (one of whom has special needs), who want to change the world with everything from freeing the fish from an aquarium to "over throwing capitalism and replacing it with something nicer". This is all given an air of credibility in part due to the narration of John Peel and secondly as a result of footage of the trio protesting at Royal Ascot and the G8 summit riots that managed to make the main BBC news.

How did this not get the credit it deserved I'll never know. Absolute bloody genius comedy writing and superb off the cuff improvisation and downright brazen nuttines that is Cyderdelic, will have you reeling in your chair with laughter! Waited ages for a release of this can't wait to get it! Especially as I haven't seen all the episodes yet!

An unknown gem!,

If it wasn't for a boring long haul flight on Virgin Atlantic, I would have never known about this fantastic comedy. The program is narrated by the late John Peel, and follows three frankly rubbish Eco-Warriors on a crusade to replace capitalism with something nicer. The program follows them in their converted Ambulance - the "ambience" as they carry out all manner of antics, such as opening a rubbish Vaggie Burger shop in Exeter or liberating goldfish. Many episodes are set at real events - like playing live at Glastonbury, attending the Berlin Love Parade and carrying out a sit in at Ascot, nearly all with a good dose of squabbling & idiocy thrown in. The DVD costs under £9, and is worth it for the first two episodes alone! If you like comedies like Spaced, The Office or Peep Show, you'll love it. And remember - "every twenty seconds, tropical rain forest the size of Canada is chopped down...................................and that's another one gone."

....until youve seen this!I dont think its for everyone. But if you are of the rave generation especially or aged anywhere from 18-40 you should love this! Its one of those comedy masterworks that most people dont know about - and never will. It used to get shown on BBC3 at 2am when noone saw it. It will never be repeated on TV, Im sure of that! Im not even going to explain how funny this is - just buy it (its cheap!) and laugh until your stomach hurts! Comedy-wise nothing in recent TV history comes close to this trust me. And if you like this - make sure you get the Shirley Ghostman DVD package too with My Best Friend included. Comedy genius. But you may need a warped sense of humour...Its very British humour - I dont think the rest of the world will get it to be honest!

The first episode of La La Land was broadcast a couple of days ago - another program with Marc Wootton. It was like Cyderdelic in that it just wasn't very funny. In Cyderdelic there were plenty of moments that are a bit awkward, some that are painfully cringeworthy, but very few that actually made me laugh. I feel bad writing this, because Wootton can be so brave and funny. Unfortunately, this just shows off how brave he can be. I loved 'High Spirits with Shirley Ghostman' and 'My New Best Friend', two programs that let Marc Wootton show off his huge (metaphorical) balls and improv skills. Not, however, Cyderdelic. |
