VINE VOICEon 21 October 2010
I have to add my voice to the anti MP3ers- at least for this album. I've just downloaded three tracks. What appalling quality downloads! Make It Easy On Yourself is one of my favourite tunes ever, but somehow I've managed to miss getting it on CD for the last 20 years. So on impulse thought I'd indulge myself tonight. Oh dear... Both this and the title track sound awful- muddy at best and the title track! I think the vocals are there... somewhere. Buy the CD. I've given this four as it would be a travesty for such wonderful music to be downgraded due to incompetent MP3 coding, but for quality of sound it should be 2, or 1...or -5!

After downloading this album and listening to the title track, I started becoming troubled by the higher frequencies (I'm not an audiophile by the way). Pronunciations of 's' in particular sounded quite hissy. To compare I downloaded the same track from compilation 'After the Lights Go Out', and the latter sounded much better, more rounded.

Perhaps the issue is related to mp3 encoding, in which case the physical disc would suffer no such problems. I just wanted to caution fellow customers.

As a teenager I loved the Walker Brothers but there are quite a few songs on this CD that I never knew existed, probably tracks that never made it - sound quality isn't brilliant but having given all the negatives about it I still loved to hear the old songs again

By the mid 1960s The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Who and The Searchers and several others were at the top of the charts, then came The Walker Brothers.
Their songs were often about lost love and very striking they were too, maybe, as another reviewer suggested they were nearest in style to The Righteous Brothers.
My particular favourite is the stunningly beautiful No Regrets.
The least favourite songs are the 7 solos from Scott Walker, excellent voice, but too lounge style for me.
It's all original artist/recordings and mostly good reproduction sounds, so if you like Scott Walker/The Walker Brothers on 1 CD, this could it.

i purchased this as a present & so have not listened to it. However, in appraising the tracks on it it is a comprehensive

experience & coverage of the carreer of the Walker Bros, Scott Walker, etc.

Just what I wanted. Has all the great songs to bring back the memories - 'Love Her', 'Stay with me Baby' and 'The sun ain't gonna shine anymore', just to name three of the twenty one tracks!

More Walker Brothers than Scott Walker. Some of the tracks are standard covers used as fillers, but it's generally a pleasant trip back to the sixties.
