Edible But Unusable
on 10 April 2011
All four packets of Lindor purchased from Amazon (i.e. over 1.3kgs worth) were spoilt because they had been exposed to an excessively high ambient temperature. Although still edible (just) the sweets could not be used as intended, because the high temperature had caused some melting, resulting in a dull, mishapen, pitted and marked surface to the sweet, rather than the usual smooth, spherical almost shiny surface. It had also affected the texture/taste of the sweets.
It is likely that the damage would have occurred during storage, rather than in transit, although that is possible too. The sweets would have been returned had the problem been spotted immediately. Unfortunately, by the time it was, the original cartons had been thrown away.
