4.0 out of 5 stars Of Great Interest, 30 Dec 2009

This review is from: Matt Monro - Matt At The Movies [DVD] (DVD)
The oddity here is Matt's only foray into movies. Apparently made due to his long friendship with the director, the story (a thriller) is pretty trite really and serves mainly as a travelogue to Big Game South Africa in the '70s. Matt was accomplished in anything he did so it's no surprise that he gives a spirited performance in the limited screen time alloted to him.

The other item is a lovely little cinema short from the mid '60s with Matt at "home" with guests Roy Castle and the wonderful Marion Montgomery, from which he travels to Rome to do some numbers against local backdrops. The highspot is "3 Coins in the Fountain". Matt sings beautifully with an unusual travel-like musical accompaniment.

A must-have for completists and would merit 5 stars for the cinema short which is a bright, glossy trip that will take all those of a certain age down Memory Lane.

Wonderful to the man perform again. he was a truly great singer. On par with Frank Sinatra, quite often sounding like him so it's difficult to tell them apart
