this sounds pretty much like nothing else in your record collection! presidents have such a distinctive style, of exaggerated americana coupled with ditorted pop masterpieces and twanging mood pieces. as an 'album' its nearly faultless, all the songs link perfectly to the next, and by the end you really feel the band has developed! noone else gets away with singing songs about lizards and their pet cats except presidents, and nothing has felt this 'fun' for a long time. every song is memorable and catchy but apart from the indie breathrough-peaches, the best song here is definately 'naked and famous' a fantasticly scincere song, that whilst bieng incredibly funny, manages to develop an amazing melody, fantastic chorus and lyrics of anthemic quality
long live the presidents- they have an inescapable charm, and theres warmth at the heart of their songs. listen and smile- i guaruntee this album will stay with you for years.

8 years on and this cd still makes you unashamed to sing out loud and bounce around! its catchy, fun and doesn't take itself seriously, but its no comedy albulm.
tracks like "peaches" "lump" and "dune buggy" may not be song writing masterpeices but you cant help but sing to them, on tracks like "stranger" and "body" you can hear a story and the sublime turns to the ridiculous on "naked and famous" find me another band that can write in the line "40ft smurfs" and i'll be immpressed!
More honesty than the good charlottes (better too) and a bit more grown up than the catchy pop of the busted generation, a must have for any rock/punk fan with a sense of humour!

cant help but agree with previous reviews an excellent feel good album, music amusing but seriously accomplished at the same time, well worth a listen and you will want to listen again, what more do you want? how many albums do u listen to more than twice? had this for years but it still is a favourite along wi the flaming lips and alex harvey.
