4.0 out of 5 stars 80's influences but far from dated, 28 Feb. 2008

I had never heard of these guys until someone recommended them saying they were a bit like "Joy Division meets Nine Inch Nails". Personally I don't go along with that comparison but there is a definite 80s influence here. There isn't a consistent style throughout the album which makes listening to it like listening to 3 or 4 different EPs. It is probably one of the oddest and eclectic albums I have listened to but it's actually very good and quite refreshing amongst the mediocrity of contemporary music today. Hints of The Police, Human League and New Order are to be found and one track reminds me very much of Simple Minds 'Big Sleep'. If you're a fan of the 80s, I really recommend this but be prepared for something quite random but very easy to listen to.

This is excellent to listen to.

Think Gary Numan and the tubeway army updated.

If you like electronica with a hint of indy, this is for you.

I actually found them on the "Driver SF" PS3 game as one of the songs you can select. "Steamroom".

4.0 out of 5 stars Hmmm nice!, 2 Jan. 2007
This review is from: Beams (Audio CD)
Yes this album is very good, some nice electro tunes in there but be warned! The majority of songs are far different from 'Are You The One'(which is the best song on it), most are instimentals and some have some lyrics in. But this isn't a bad thing, all im saying is that if you're looking for 12 versions of their singles then dont buy it. It's a fun album to listen to with some varied songs in it, some chilled, some crazy. But overal it isnt great but a very fun album to listen to but it does get boring if you listen to it too much in a row. Don't be put off but dont expect anything amazing. I know that this may seem a slightly negative review but the tunes are so fun you'll have to fall for its charm!
