This is great for cooking large lumps of meat as you stick it in before you put it in the oven. its not so great if you want to check that small things like sausages are cooked. Best chicken ever, and pink lamb at last!

Wouldn't do without one of these, in fact its in the leg of lamb that's cooking in the oven as I type this. If you want your meat cooked to your liking and do not have a oven with a probe then one of these is great. I especially like it when we cook beef as we like it medium and this tells you exactly.

I've had this for a few months now and its been fine.
Looks good and is sturdy (I've dropped it twice and it still works)
I like medium-rare beef/venison and now I can get it perfect.
This is for larger pieces of meat, not sausages!

I bought one these three years ago and it has served well, giving the meat temperature rather than oven temperature and used up to 230 degrees centigrade. Unlike the photo on Amazon, my thermometer (and the photo at [...]) has markings in both Fahrenheit and Centigrade/Celsius, but mostly I work off the lower scale that has points marked for different meats.

The Silicone back is starting to accumulate baked on fat, and I think I'd rather it was completely stainless steel but overall I'm very pleased with it. The Salter Heston Blumenthal meat thermometer seems to be identical but without the lower scale marked up for different meats.

Purchased this to replace an older model as it eventually broke. This item is really good and I have used it many times to ensure I cook my meat to the correct temp. It has always ensured that when I take out my meat I need not worry about serving up uncooked products. Worked brilliantly for the Christmas Turkey, which some people struggle with, mine was succulent and yet cooked as it should be, juices rang clear when the needle reached poultry, as it should.

Just received and unpacked this Salter Meat Thermometer. It's obviously faulty as it thinks the room temperature is 84 degrees celsius, and water from the cold tap is 80 degrees celsius!!!
Luckily the supplier (Robert Dyas) has instantly refunded the product and postage costs to me without a moments hesitation and without the need for me to return the product. 10/10 to Robert Dyas; 0/10 to Salter

Arrived really quickly - bought as a gift for my partner & he loves it

Works for all types of meat - really easy to read and the silicone grips means that you can move and replace the thermometer without burning yourself

Recommend for anyone - no level of cooking skill required

Be safe when cooking meat. Just put prong into meat and dial moves round to the meat section to show how its cooking and how hot. Really simple. Everyone should have one.

Used once at gas 5, meat joint temperature was shown as off the scale after 1 hour. On its removal it gradually came down about half way then stuck. Returned for refund.

Heat reading is completely wrong. Shows off scale at room temp. Tried in oven, same result. Even in the freezer it still only goes down halfway.
