5.0 out of 5 stars A film to make us appreciate what we have, 26 April 2012
This review is from: Devil's Miner [DVD] [2005] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC] (DVD)
I saw this film in Bolivia having visitied inside the Potosi mines where this film is based. It is a deeply moving story of 2 brothers so young, working in the most dangerous mines putting their lives at risk in the most awful conditions imaginable putting their lives at risk for a few dollars a day. They are incredibly determined to make something of themselves by also going to school and grateful for having work. The average life expectancy of these miners is 40 years.

It should put all of those in the Western world to shame for not being grateful and appreciating what we have. Everyone I met who visited these mines said it was so appalling that it was something they were grateful they had the opportunity to have seen but would never like to repeat the experience, yet these young boys WORK in these places.

This a wonderfully made film that seeks to educate us and open our eyes to what goes on in these places and in the minds of those who live it.

Highly highly recommended viewing. Having seen it whilst I was Bolivia, I wanted to get hold of a copy on my return.
