4.0 out of 5 stars A great RPG , very entertaining though quite repetetive and lacking originality
Dynasty Warriors 5- Empires is probably about the thousandth game of this type made by Koei. It is all about unifying China into one state and you choose a state to start off with. You hire generals and leutenients, train then up the ranks (from 16 to 'MAX') and reinforce their troops after a plague or battle. You choose political policies, tax your people- or reward...

3.0 out of 5 stars Greatness- temporary
This is a great game as many will tell you, but there are many factors that will bring you to not understand why you bought it in the first place, first of all it is extremely repetitive, as everytime it's the same thing, pick a place, kill the leader...pick a place...kill the leader, second, this game can eb extremely easy if you choose it to be and after knowing you can...

You choose political policies, tax your people- or reward them, produce and develop products, pick military strategies and tactics. You can also set up alliances lasting for varying amounts of time. You can attempt to encourage an uprising or revolt in an enemy (or ally!) state. This game is great fun but has a few glitches. The dialogue and battle commands are cheese and repetive, with the commands consisting of only 'Attack', 'Defend', 'Listen to the officers' and 'Group Up'.Worth buying, though you might want to wait till next year to buy a slightly-improved-though-almost-the-same sequel

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, 18 Sep 2006
This review is from: Dynasty Warriors 5: Empires (PS2) (Video Game)
In 'Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires', the armies of the kingdom are at your command! The player's ultimate goal is to conquer the 25 regions of Ancient China and build an entire Empire using cunning diplomacy and uncompromising force. Before each battle, the player will meet with the war council to decide upon military and political policies for the kingdom; then it's time for war.

'Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires' gives armchair generals total control of their kingdom. Now, gamers can issue direct orders to each officer or signal general commands to officers on the field. Players will order when the army will take the offensive, defend their ground, or have all officers gather for an ambush. Gamers can also choose the officers for an attack force, entice captives into joining the kingdom's service and even expel officers from the kingdom. There's even greater authority over Government, Product Development, Diplomacy and Battle Tactics with the game's 25 new policies for a total of 75 in all.

The game's imperial-sized action includes 4 scenarios to unlock, 2-Player Co-Op play in "Empire" and "Free" modes, new items to unlock, and control of over 200 officers! Once the dust has settled, there's the real history of Ancient China to discover in the game's detailed Encyclopaedia.

I could recommend this game, but eventually you'll be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Recommendation Indeed, 31 Dec 2013

I would recommend this game highly to all those interested in Koei's games. I myself started on Koei's Dynasty Warriors 3 as part of a Demo Disc, I love the characters, the character development, usage capability and not to mention the hours of fun and historical implementation of the Three Kingdoms Era in Dynasty Warriors and the Warring States Period in Samurai Warriors. As far as delivery goes and the product received, high standard indeed and arrived sooner than I originally suspected, so certainly a recommendation here

As always with amazon I had an early delivery-Im always impressed by that. The game itself was ofcourse flawless and brand new essentially. The gameplay is awesome and its a huge step up from dynasty warrirors 4 empires and it adds alot to dynasty warriors 5 becuase of the various people you can play as-not to mention the obvious fun of building an empire and taking all of china.

Id reccomend it to literally anyone who already has dynasty warriors 5.

This game is great. There are lots of characters, custom characters you can make yourself, revolutionary scenarios which seem more like a turn-based strategy game and lots of control of your empire. There are a few minor drawbacks: If you're on a large map and don't have a horse, it takes a long time to travel around. Some missions or maps can be extremely hard if you're not prepared enough. Some scenarios are brutal and have you fighting against 3-5 armies at once. At these points you will have no choice but to surrender. Apart from that, this is an amazing hack n slash game and should not be missed at any price.

Ok This is the second in the series of Empires and has improved quite a lot there is much more to do you can now have more troops and officers and ltenants. There is now a more sophisticated way of choosing what do do before a battle. Like in the last empires and in the latest extreme Legends you can make an Edit character with any of the main officers weppons. So enjoy and take over ancient China as fast as you can.

Not only did the game arrive on time, but it works 100% as well. For the cheap price there is nothing wrong at all.
Scratch wise there is hardly any just very minor ones.
